1/16 SCALE 2.4 Ghz SHERMAN M4A3 75MM (BB) by TaiGen

For a long time I had a fascination with remote controlled tanks and a while back I had bought a $30 Heng Long 1/30 scale Sherman. While it was a great RC Tank for the price you paid, it still felt like a rather cheap toy and definitely was not durable enough to use outside. I wanted something that was larger and very well built. After doing my research I had decided on Taigen's 1/16th scale Sherman, and while yes it is quite an expensive piece compared to similar products on the market, I feel based on the outstanding quality of the tank it really is worth the extra price.The construction is absolutely fantastic. A large percentage of the tank is made of metal which adds a surprising amount of heft to the model (it weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 12 pounds). All of the tank's guts reside in a single piece metal 'tub' that makes up the lower chassis. The entire drivetrain is made of metal and the treads are very strong and downright gorgeous as well. All in all a very well designed and solid RC vehicle.All of the unique features this model has really makes this tank even more worth it. The 360˚ turret rotation is fantastic and accurate to the real thing (most other tanks on the market only have around a 320˚ turret rotation range). The airsoft cannon and smoke unit work excellently and add a lot of fun realism to the tank. The onboard sound module really brings life to it and can be adjusted from whisper quiet to a shockingly loud roar (the speaker is of good quality too- definitely doesn't suffer from the 'tinny' sound other tanks have. It's nice and loud and bassy). Top speed is quite decent and it is also capable of a nice slow crawl as well.The only thing that worries me with this tank is that due to the significant heft of the model I fear that the motors will face a lot more stress than the plastic versions. However because of how this tank is designed it looks to be extremely easy to work on, and a lot of replacement parts and upgrades are available from the manufacturer should anything fail. For instance, I am very interested in swapping out the stock 3:1 gearbox and putting in the 4:1 gearbox offered by the company to get more low end torque to climb over obstacles.All in all I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. The metal construction, all the realistic features, and the ease of maintenance make this pretty much the best remote controlled Sherman on the market. I was hesitant at first when I saw the price tag as there are less expensive options on the market, but after receiving my Taigen RC tank, I know it was worth every penny from how much I gained with this model. The only thing I need now is a Tiger or T34 that I can give to a buddy so we can have backyard tank wars!

Mine came broken.It's nice tank so far my favorite tank

It had a crack in the front left fender, up the hull about 1 1/2". Glued it, can't see it. It had a crack at the left rear fender to the rear panel, about 1", glued it, can't see it. The right rear locking support was broken at the bas and just laying on the floor of the tank. It was a clean break so I got some glue and set it. I then took some epoxy and slowly built up the base and length of the support. After a day, I noticed every time I went to remove the tank top off, it kept getting snagged by the front left fender. I figured out I had to trim off a small section of support for the fender and now it is a very smooth operation. Took photos and was going to send it back to the dealer, but it would take time and it was not his fault. The shipping box and internal tank box had no damage, so it had to have happened at the assembly plant. I'm just disappointed with their quality control. With all this it still runs fine, shoots and looks great. My grandson loves it!

Don't trust all the positive reviews about this tank. They might be phony. I bought this tank and it is really no better than a Heng Long tank. (and I think HL tanks basically suck) This tank was also built poorly in China. Taigen's customer service is horrible. It's true, a few more pieces are metal on this tank... but the internals are sooooo cheap. The battery/charger that comes with the tank gives you no idea of the battery charge level. You also have no idea if and when the battery is fully charged. It is a huge pain trying to get the tank apart and back together again without breaking something. The turret doesn't turn around smoothly (acts like it keeps getting caught on something), the gun doesn't always recoil or flash (I have the IR version) when fired, the smoking unit works but no smoke comes out, the tank can't seem to run straight without constant adjustment, the little bits and pieces (accessories) don't all fit correctly, etc. Overall, I think I got ripped off and don't think the tank is worth over $200. You've been warned.

Wow, this is a really cool tank. Love how scale this looks. My kids thought this was really cool. They loved the sounds, smoke, and airsoft bb's shooting out. This is one amazing rc. I went through and waterproofed the motherboard/esc. Most of the other parts I wasn't to worried about considering they will dry out and they don't have circuits that will fry if they get wet. I love to have fun with my rc's and there will be nothing that will slow me down. Well I have to wait until I surprise my son with his for Christmas, then we will have some fun.I will say that I did notice, this tank with these tracks seems to struggle climbing up on some things unlike some of the other Taigen metal tanks that have wider tracks that seem to have a better grip and they climb like there is nothing that will stop them. Other than that, I really couldn't be more pleased. Thanks a ton!

I would highly recommend this tank! The metal chassis and drive system makes it extremely durable, this tank comes with steel gearbox as well as a unlimited rotation 360 degree turret, while most RC tanks only have a 320 degree turret. The customer service is also great and they would be more than happy to send you a replacement part free of charge if it happens to break down by it self. The gun is very accurate and shoots fairly far. The tank also has decent top speed and great traction.

Awesome tank. Just as advertised. Everything worked great! Real scale features, and a nice heavy built tank. Would buy again!!!
