SMALLRIG Universal Quick Release Tripod Adapter Plate for Sony VCT-14

I bought this v-lock tripod plate as a match to the same branded shoulder rig to avoid any incompatibility issues.Obviously SmallRig knows this is a decision a lot of people will take, and so they have overpriced this heavy metal plate with 1 or 2 moving parts. That's the main reason for the 3 stars, the high price tag. Other then that, the build quality seems quite good. I expect this plate to last a lifetime. Its quite heavy. I wish it were lighter weight. I also wish the unlocking handle were colored to make it stand out more in the dark. I also wish they had drilled 3 small threaded holes in a triangular pattern at the top of the plate, as do other companies, so I could attach an extension arm I have that is purpose built for those holes. That alone may be a reason I return this item and buy a less expensive one that has that feature... IMO this tripod plate could have been priced 50% less. It seems way overpriced relative to the price of the Shoulder rig, which is $50 more but has way more workmanship, features, and materials.

I lost my VCT plate (which I found much later) and this was the most affordable replacement that I felt good about putting a $20K+ camera on. SmallRig makes some very good Cinema Camera parts but you do need to do your homework and read the reviews on some of them. This was definitely a great purchase. RECOMMEND.

The Smallrig VCT plate is solidly built, precisely machined, and affordable. It is far better built and a much better fit than many of the generic VCT-14 plates that are floating around. I am using with a Lanpart VCT rig with a Panasonic EVA1, and it clicks in and fits without any play in the mount, which is a vast improvement to the wiggly VCT plate that I had. The Smallrig version also has a neat cut-in profile at the back that slims it down nicely and minimizes weight without sacrificing build or functionality. I highly recommend it.

Well built solid metal plate. This is a true VCT-14 plate with spring loaded back pin which helps to lock the camera with no wiggle. Avoid VCT-U14 plates because they have a fixed back pin and usually are not solid metal. Despite the all metal construction it doesn't weigh as much as it could because of the cutouts on the sides.

I purchased for use on a Sony F55. The VCT-14 plate mount was very secure with no play at the back. I purchased the Small rig shoulder mount with sliding base plate and they work well together. It raises the center of gravity and I miss having pass thru support rods, but it's worth it for the quick release feature in an ENG situation. Feels solid and well made.

Small rig make excellent accessories for your film camera needs. You can’t fault the material quality or high machining standard.Very happy with the flexibility of these components

This is great to use with SmallRig's VCT-14 Shoulder Plate. Solidly built. And cheaper than other offerings from Sony/Zacuto/Wooden Camera. Works just as well as those alternatives. You can't go wrong with anything from SmallRig, honestly.

Excellent quality Sony type quick release. Quality cannot be beat!
