SMALLRIG Universal Quick Release Tripod Adapter Plate for Sony VCT-14

Costs the same or less than other VCT plates and has noticeably better build quality. I would not hesitate to mount a full-size broadcast rig using this plate. Quality. Smallrig rocks!

The Smallrig VCT plate is solidly built, precisely machined, and affordable. It is far better built and a much better fit than many of the generic VCT-14 plates that are floating around. I am using with a Lanpart VCT rig with a Panasonic EVA1, and it clicks in and fits without any play in the mount, which is a vast improvement to the wiggly VCT plate that I had. The Smallrig version also has a neat cut-in profile at the back that slims it down nicely and minimizes weight without sacrificing build or functionality. I highly recommend it.

As someone who worked on reality shows for many years I grew to love the quick release system for tripod mounting cameras. So when the time came to build my own cinema rig, I did my research and landed on the smallrig system. When Using with an 8sinn shoulder plate it works perfectly! It’s so easy to slide the camera on and off sticks throughout the day. I can also use multiple plates mounted to various things like jib or steadicam to quickly swap rigs. It also sits flat on a table with the camera mounted. It is always on my rig.

Well built solid metal plate. This is a true VCT-14 plate with spring loaded back pin which helps to lock the camera with no wiggle. Avoid VCT-U14 plates because they have a fixed back pin and usually are not solid metal. Despite the all metal construction it doesn't weigh as much as it could because of the cutouts on the sides.

My company has purchased and used around 10 of these plates in different locations. We are using the Blackmagic G2 Broadcast. Some of the older plates work beautifully and have no issues. For some reason, the newer ones we've ordered have had issues locking. I pulled a few apart, and have found that there are dimensional inconsistencies between the striker mount plates internally. Off by ~3mm in some cases. I plan to have the correct part with the correct dimensions laser cut shortly. But until then, we've had to round them off and polish them by hand. Outside of that, they work great. Lastly, if you plan to use these in a vehicle, be sure to remove each screw and add a small amount of loctite to the threads to prevent them from coming undone in transit.

I lost my VCT plate (which I found much later) and this was the most affordable replacement that I felt good about putting a $20K+ camera on. SmallRig makes some very good Cinema Camera parts but you do need to do your homework and read the reviews on some of them. This was definitely a great purchase. RECOMMEND.

Small rig make excellent accessories for your film camera needs. You can’t fault the material quality or high machining standard. Very happy with the flexibility of these components

This is great to use with SmallRig's VCT-14 Shoulder Plate. Solidly built. And cheaper than other offerings from Sony/Zacuto/Wooden Camera. Works just as well as those alternatives. You can't go wrong with anything from SmallRig, honestly.

This adapter plate by Smallrig is as advertised. It fits the Smallrig shoulder mount plate extremely well with no movement what so ever. Workmanship is outstanding and I am more than satisfied with purchase.

Doesn't work with a lot of other brands, including Zacuto and Shape. Have a lot of issues getting them to actually click together, I would only buy this if you've got your camera on a Small Rig VCT camera plate.

This is no Sony VCT-14 quick release plate. It worked, but wasn't as smooth in operation as a Sony VCT-14, and some small screws fell off the lever. I needed something fast, and it was 1/3 the price of the Sony, and did the job for me for a few shoots for the second camera. But I had to eventually get the SONY, which will last for literally decades. I have other Small Rig adapters and accessories that have been excellent, but not so sure about this quick release plate. Sorry.
