Let's start with the good things about this animated feature.The voice casting is inspired, and the repartee between Kevin Kline and Kenneth Branagh in particular is delightful. I don't know if there was improvisation, but the dialogue reminds me of the bromantic exchanges in Judd Apatow movies-- albeit delivered faster and much more child friendly. The animation is reminiscent of Prince of Egypt and beautiful, for the most part.The mediocre things.The female character does not resemble any others from features for children. She is interesting, but extremely, almost discomfitingly sexual in her methods of getting what she wants (heed the rating, parents). The explicitness of her character is especially dissonant considering al the other elements (sidekick animals,The music by Elton John is pleasant enough but ultimately forgettable, and nearly all the montages the songs serve as background for are not funny or clever enough to hold up against the parts of the movie with dialogue (a far cry from majestic set pieces from Prince of Egypt or Katzenberg's 1989-1994 Disney features)The plot, overall, is not very memorable despite a villain who is entertaining and menacing, and I found the climax strangeky tedious.Watch it if you like animation and talky bromances, have children who are too young to notice sexual innuendo, or old enough that they will find it entertaining. It's a strange target audience, yes.

This has been the go-to movie for our family over the years with the unusual use of well known Shakespearean actors in the lead roles. We have the DVD, but decided to get the Blue Ray to pass the movie on to the next generation.The movie sound-track is excellent from Elton John, and for my money much better than the Lion King.Compared to the DVD, on this Blue Ray the animation graphics really "pop" with clarity and colour on our 4k OLED TV making it well worth the extra money.UK compatible New Blue Ray copies are hard to find at a reasonable cost, and in this case the price was cheaper than many second hand offerings in the UK.

Esta película lo tiene todo: acción, aventuras, emoción, sensibilidad, humor... Es una obra un poco infravalorada de Dreamworks que merece ser revisitada, porque estamos ante un peliculón. Representa de forma muy divertida a las culturas antiguas de América y sus personajes son entrañables. La banda sonora y la animación son exquisitas y la trama para quitarse el sombrero. Merece estar en la colección de todo aquel que aprecie el buen cine y la animación, y más si se trata de un Blu-Ray con contenidos extra.
