Gift for my Mom's 95th birthday
Standard for all my reviews: When reviewing products, I always remain objective and honest about the product or service. I always review with information that I feel others would like to know about the product as I always assume what I'm writing will influence for or against the purchase. I always try to go above and beyond surface characteristics and input into quality, value and application. Most importantly, I will always end the review with an answer as to whether I'd purchase the product again which I believe is the most critical question pertaining to the item. To manufacturers: Want me to review your items, just let me know!Yes, that is correct - her 95th birthday and her children got her a Surface. This actually replaces her surface from probably 7-8 years ago which had started giving her fits, the keyboard wouldn't charge and it was slow. After a lot of research and trying to strike the balance between functionality and cost, I settled on this Surface Pro with the 12.3" screen. Screen size is important for her as she can't see as she used to and this one is bigger than her last one. I was worried about the complexity but she was off and running from the first moment. She had a few hiccups as expected and it took a bit to get her support set up since I had bought it well before her birthday, but support has been great as well. She loves it and is finding new things every day. That's important for her very active 95 year old brain and I'm so pleased she is using technology to stay abreast of news, email and even social networking. She's not a power user in any way but this Surface has been perfect.

Awesome laptop/tablet combo
I absolutely love this surface pro! It’s very slim and user friendly. I’m starting my masters program and wanted something compatible with Microsoft word/ppt/ect. and something I could easily carry around with the million other stuff I need. I’ve had it for 3months now and it’s worked out great! It has a keyboard on the screen but for typing papers I went ahead and purchased the type cover and even that is simple to use! The only complaint I have is the battery life...I don’t think I’m using it more than normal but I feel like I’m charging it everyday. Now that might be normal but I’m use to chromebooks that hold their charge for several days. Besides that, it was a great investment!🙃

For basic usage M3 chip works great.
Purchased the surface pro 5 with the Intel m3 chip. My primary usage is for onenote using the pen (sold separately) on work appointments. Secondary usage is for basic internet and email. That's it. For $450.00 or sub 450, it's a fantastic deal. The free basic onenote and pen work excellent! The programs speed is great since there aren't many programs loaded on my SP5 nor will I ever have 10+ internet tabs open at one time. For basic usage the price point is great. An Intel chip beyond M3 is not needed.

Need to Match the Pro you Buy to your Specific Needs
I like that the keyboard clicks into place easily. Don't like the charger because where it plugs into the AC outlet it gets, not warm, but HOT!! The charger is also way too short. Screen & keyboard are big enough to provide comfort for my husband's large hands. Glad I opted for the Pro over the Go for that reason. Resolution is excellent. It's taking forever as I type on one of my other devices for me to create a Pro recovery flash drive. My HP laptop did it relatively quickly compared to this, but then my laptop has a stronger processor, more RAM & more storage. This Pro tends to favor my 2.4Ghz Wifi over my 5Ghz Wifi which may also be a factor. Don't like that feature. Ran into a few quirks during set-up because some of the factory settings, that should have been made, were not made. If I weren't a tad savvy about some techie stuff, it could have thrown me for a loop. I bought the low end power option because it's mainly for my husband who will only use it for email, web surfing and TV, but even so, a simple task like creating a recovery flash drive shouldn't take this long. I wonder how long it'll take me to create a back-up? I don't do the Cloud. From the old school: I back up everything to flash drives. Too easy for the rest of the world to see my stuff. Even thinking of adding a VPN on my home network for that reason. In general, so far the Pro 5 with the Core M3 processor, 4GB RAM & 64GB HD seems to be okay, but only time will tell. If I ever get another one, I will opt for the i5. That's what I have in my laptop and it can outdo this particular Pro at anything. Nothing against the seller either, but Fedex really made it difficult for us to get this package. Didn't even ring our doorbell on the first attempt. Didn't bother to let us know when we could pick it up where I had it redirected either. I notice here on the order it still says Delivery scheduled today by 8:00pm. What a crock! We had a feeling it was available at Walgreen's from the 5:00pm dropoff, so we called them to verify it and by 6:00pm had it home & I was setting it up, no thanks to Fedex. Other things: the Pro needs more than one USB port; either another USB 3.0 or a USB-C. Will never buy a docking station for it because we'll be using it independently of our other devices. Already got a 15-foot mini display port to HDMI so Hubby can connect it to our TV at times. I already have a USB 3.0 to Ethernet adapter to connect it directly to my router if I need to. in a pinch. Well... let's see, if after 2 hours, that recovery flash drive is done. Not worth $800 but I paid $500.... even so, it seems like a lot for what we got. Will review again later on after using it for a while for our purposes. Hubby won't be playing Windows games or editing video, so the smaller processor, limited RAM, etc. should be okay for the time being.

Great value :)
I've been using this for about a month now (actually typing with right now). This did not come with a Microsoft cover keyboard like the one review said.So I bought a refurbished one as I'm doing this on a budget.

Perfect in every way!
I actually love the same. It is very comfortable to write on, use the speech to text feature, along with a million other things that make this the perfect laptop/tablet. The screen is crisp. It boots up fast. It is the ideal because it is better than both a laptop and a tablet because it is both in one. Many claim to be that, but often fall short. This one exceeded my expectations. I would strongly recommend buying this little gem.

great for school
Amazing battery life with zoom calls all day and with added keyboard makes it breeze to do school work. No problems as of yet and have used it almost everyday for 3 months. Definitely worth the money.
