I have an air conditioned room that when cat enters, opens door all the way. I still want cat to enter, but not leave door wide open. Will this work?

yes, my dog goes in and out of my door many times a day. She knows how to open the door on her own and this Ultra spring was the best thing I have ever gotten. It helps with my door any way.

Does it work for a door installed in a corner? It is 5-1/4" fully extended, or that length is just for one arm/side?

That's fully extended. The wing on the door frame side does not extend past the frame itself. I shouldn't think you would have any problem.

what size is the hole in the spring. I need it to go over a 1 inch shaft

Inside diameter is ¾”. Will not work on a 1” shaft.
