HG makeup remover, wonderfully moisturizing, but dislike the scent (get the unscented version!)
For context, I have normal skin that gets dehydrated easily and becomes oily when dehydrated. This is hands-down the best makeup remover I've ever used, and I wear a lot of heavy eye makeup. This cold cream removes the eye makeup quickly and effortlessly upon being rubbed in—and the best part is that it does NOT sting my eyes at all, which is a rare feat for most make-up removers that end up in my eyes. (Sometimes if too much of it gets in my eyes, my vision will get blurry, but it's easily flushed out with water / wet washcloth and has 0 long-term effects as far as I'm aware.)I also use this as a general face wash for the 1st step in a double-cleanse routine, to break down sunscreen (I wear both physical and chemical sunscreens depending on the day). I find it incredibly nourishing and hydrating on my skin, and I have rather dehydrated skin. It is the only cleanser I've ever used that doesn't dry me out AT ALL. I usually use this 2x a day, morning and night, and find that every time I finish using it, my skin is SOOO soft and plump and has that nice, cool mochi skin feel to it, which is so incredible! How I use it: I take a thick/generous dollop and rub it into my face, focusing on areas where I've applied makeup (mostly eyes). After rubbing it in for ~30 seconds, I take a wet washcloth and gently pat until I no longer feel oily residue. And voila! I'm ready for the 2nd step of the double-cleanse. Note that without a double-cleanse this cold cream does leave a very thin film, but it's never too oily or thick of a film—so on days that my skin is feeling particularly dehydrated, I actually skip the 2nd cleanse step because I like that very thin, protective film that this cold cream leaves me with. And then there's the totally unbeatable price—drugstore prices for what feels like high-end skin treatment (and I've used my fair share of premium products that didn't work half as well as this $5 tub). My skin has started to really glow in the last couple months of use, and I'm pretty sure I have this cold cream to thank as I've changed nothing else about my 5-step routine in the last year!!!My one gripe is the smell: it has this cloying "grandma" smell (think medicinal flowers) that gave me a headache the first 2 times of use, and I almost threw out the tub if not for the wonders it did for my skin and for makeup removal—and I'm so glad I stuck with it, as I've now gone nose blind to the smell. That said, there is a fragrance-free version of this same cold cream that I will buy in the future instead.Overall, so so happy that I've found my HG first-step cleanser that doubles as a highly effective makeup remover and eliminates the waste of makeup remover pads and the need for so much tugging of the skin around my eyes!!

This stuff is UNBELIEVABLE!
I have waited to post my review because I wanted to give an accurate description of my experience. This is my first encounter with using a cold cream cleanser. I am pleasantly surprised by how well it removes makeup.First, I tried applying the cleanser and then removing it with a tissue (which turned into 4 tissues) because that's the way I've seen other women use it. I didn't like that method because it felt like a lot of tugging on my skin. However, it did indeed thoroughly remove my makeup. I first applied the cream heavily thinking that it was going to require a lot to get off all of my makeup. The second time I tried it, I applied the cleanser and then removed it with a damp cloth. I applied a little less cream this time since I was also going to be using a damp cloth. The makeup still came off easily, but I felt like 1) I just ruined a perfectly good wash cloth because of all the makeup residue and 2) I washed away the moisture in my skin and was left feeling really dry. Still.... I'm impressed with how much makeup came off.My tried and true method that I prefer is applying a light layer of cream all over my face and then removing it with a facial wipe. I like the Co$tco brand since it's cheap and it's light and the cloths are plenty big enough that I just need one and it still leaves plenty of moisture behind.I should mention that I use a very high quality foundation made to really stick to your skin and last throughout the day and waterproof mascara. I find that if you really massage it into your skin, and also let it sit for a few extra seconds on your lashes, it breaks everything down easily with only one application. You can actually feel it breaking down the mascara as you gently massage it in.I should also mention that I normally have oily skin and I was super hesitant to add something greasy on top of my skin. However, my oiliness has reduced and I haven't had a single breakout since using this product (been using for well over a month).I am astonished at how cheap this product is and how well it works. How is it possible that no one has ever recommended this to me before??

Great product!
This is a very old product that works great. I grew up watching my mother use it and I am in my 70's. I love it. Removes makeup and softens your skin. A little goes a long way and it lasts long.

very gentle, great mascara remover
this is a really great cold cream that i pretty much only use for removing my mascara when i’m too tired to repeatedly wipe it away with makeup wipes. as you can see in the picture, it clumps the mascara really well so i only have to apply some to my lids, wipe down over my lashes and rub a bit, and then wipe it away from under my eyes. i have pretty sensitive skin and other ponds products tend to make my skin red and stingy, but this is initially very soothing and only gives a slight tingle which honestly is kind of refreshing. it does feel kind of greasy and i have to wipe my face roughly to get the residue off, but i’m also annoyingly sensitive to the weight of products on my face, so… take that with a grain of salt. as for the smell, it kind of reminds me of bug spray? i can’t recall the name of the exact scent, but bc i’m just washing it right off it doesn’t last anyway. overall a great product for what i bought it for!
