Really easy to install with the right tools and definitely works
Our upstairs bedroom always struggles to stay cool in the Houston summer, with the AC running all the time. Particularly my daughter's, which has the pull down stairs for the upper attic. I hit the door with my thermal gun and found it to be 10 degrees hotter than the surrounding ceiling and walls. I found this, ordered it and installed it today. It fits like a glove around the opening of my stairs. To intall it properly you'll need 200+ staples, which is all of 10 minutes with an electric staple gun. I can't imagine using a manual staple gun on this project. Staple the 4 corners first, then work your way around. I also used Gorilla tape to do one final seal. As soon as I zipped up the cover the rush of hot attic air immediately stopped. After an hour I used my thermal gun in the same places and I now have about a 1 degree temperature differential. Every little bit helps, and I guarantee not having the pull down stairs radiating heat into the room is going to help a ton. One last tip - go to HD and get a roll of 3/8 wide by 1/4 inch tall rubber weatherstrip. Peel the backing off and stick it around the inside perimeter of your pull down stairs. When you close them up to the ceiling, the weatherstrip seals the top side of the pull down stairs to the bottom side of the ceiling frame, further preventing heat/cold from entering the room.

Easy to install and fits over my extra wide attic stairs
I replaced the original attic pull-down stairs a few years ago because I wanted a wider step for stability. The wider step makes the stairs extend higher in the attic when folded-up than the original stairs. That means that the attic stair insulation cover must be high enough to "clear" the folded stairs. This stair cover meets that criteria. The side walls are 11 inches high, but the installation requires that the sidewalls be stapled to the INSIDE of the attic opening frame...BELOW the attic floor elevation...so some of that 11 inches in height is lost by the installation method. That said, it is still high enough to clear the folded-up stairs. Installation was easy with a manual staple gun. The stair cover fit exactly within the dimensions of the attic opening. This cover is a significant improvement over my previous attic stairs cover because this cover has a higher R rating and this cover stays in place when the extra wide stairs are folded-up. Update 14Dec25: This is an awesome product that has held up well - shows no signs of wear and tear - both zippers are working fine...and it continues to provide needed insulation. This was a good purchase in 2020 and I am reminded of that with every trip to the attic.

I had my doubts, but this thing is awesome
My A/C guy told me that the reason my unit for one side of the house was running more than the unit on the other side was that the controller was in the hall below the attic access. The offered to install one of these tents for a significant chunk of change. So, as I said, I had my doubts about this but I went ahead and ordered this. It was delivered on time (I think about a week for delivery) , it was well packaged, super easy to install. I also thought it was going to make getting into the attic a pain but it's simple to open and close and it also keeps the attic door a lot cleaner so I don't need to vacuum insulation off the floor every time I access the attic, that was kind of a bonus they didn't advertise. and it works. The draft in the hall from the warm air moving up through the door way is gone. I have checked the temperature around the door and it is the same as the rest of the hall, and my heat pump isn't running nearly as much because of the cold draft going by that controller.

Buy It!
What a big difference. While researching these covers I came across a home engineering article that explained how an uninsulated attic stairway actually reduced the total insulation effectiveness in an attic space by approximately 20 percent. This is an awful lot for only a few square feet area. I pre measured the rough opening of my stairs first, to make sure that it would fit properly. The cover is stapled onto the rough opening, not the ladder jambs itself. It was a near perfect fit. Used my 2' level and pre-drew lines all the way around to ensure a neat level fit. Only had to fold over and lap 2 corners, and only slightly. Total time to finish the job, including scraping away some old foam and cutting back a couple of shims... About 30 minutes taking my time. My attic space has ridge venting, gable vents and full length drip-edge venting. Plenty of air circulation up there! When I was done, no drafts. No cold air. I was starting to break a sweat. Well constructed and stitched. Worth every penny.

It works well, easy to install.
Easy to install. It seals the attic stairs scuttle space. Energy saver. It reduced my electric bill.

Really good attic door insulator.
Easy to install. Double sided tape really helps with installation. It does excellent job of sealing off the attic.

Great insulation for pulldown attic stairs
The cover fits the attic access wood frame perfectly. It was easy to install. I used a YEAHOME staple gun to staple the cover on the wood frame. The covers material seems to be strong enough. It keeps a rectangular shape over the opening. The light in the attic can be seen through the cover (see the relevant picture). The zippers are easy to open if you want to go into the attic. Not sure how the manufacturer claims to have R value of 15.5. But it is definitely worth having an insulation layer between the attic and the floor below it. If the insulation reduces the electrical bill by $5 per month for 6 months per year, then you get the money back in 2 years.

Attic boot
Helped keep the heat in the attics and out of the home. Fairly easy to install. It was a good price.

Easy to install. Just need a staple gun. May not fit perfectly but once installed works well as it is somewhat flexible. Zipper appears to be good quality. A lot easier than building a box or a fixed structure in attic.

Well made. Material a little thin but we solved this by putting an old duvet between the cover and steps. No draft or heat loss whatsoever.
