Laila Ali LADR5604 Ionic Soft Bonnet Dryer, Purple with White Bonnet

I have waist length, naturally curly, takes-forever-to-dry hair. I wanted something that would allow me to sit at computer or watch TV while I wait for my hair to dry - even with a dryer it takes a long time. This item is perfect. It seems to be good quality and solid construction. Everything fits compactly in the case for storage, and it is easy to place back in the case - it is not one of those that never quite go back the way it was. Just be sure to fold the bonnet neatly and compactly.There are two settings buttons - speed and temp. The speed can be set to low or high, the temp cool or warm (this button also has an off position so it doubles as the power button). The description says three settings...I am unsure what this means. As I stated, there are two settings for each control. This provides four possible combinations...low/cool, low/warm, high/cool, high/warm.I often use large clips to secure my curls while drying. The bonnet fits over these clips and has plenty of room - will work well for larger rollers. It works fine over loose unclipped/unrolled hair as well. I generally use the low/cool setting. The bonnet stays in place just by pulling the strings tight and it does not get too hot. When I use the high setting, the bonnet does shift from the air pressure, but will stay in place if I actually tie the strings instead of just pulling them tight - or if I just lightly hold it in place.On the warm setting, the hose gets hot, but it is not uncomfortable and it might be nice in the winter to have the warm hose on my arm. :) The hose connects to the bonnet a little higher up so it does not rest on my neck at all. I have no problem with burning on the neck regardless of temp setting on dryer. I am fairly tall at 5'9", but the hose is long enough that I can set the case next to me on the chair and it reaches the bonnet easily.Of course, the dryer makes noise, but I am easily able to watch TV or video on mobile device and I can hear it without any problem. I just make sure the bonnet is not covering my ears.I think that's everything. I am very happy with this item and recommend it.

Update, August 15, 2016 - Now that i've used this for a while I wanted to update my review. Everything I posted previously still stands. However, I do think the hose bonnet attachment could be better, because sometimes the hose detaches and I have to turn this dryer off so I can re-attach it to the bonnet. As I stated previously this dryer gets hot! so if you have very thick or long hair you shouldn't have any issues with getting your hair dry. However because the highest setting is extremely hot, I would be very careful using this dryer with children. I think it could burn their scalp or ears. if you are using this with a child please do not use the highest setting. As I said before I only use the highest setting for the first 10-15 minutes then I turn it down.This is a great hair dryer. I love that it is light weight and compact. The hair bonnet, hose and power cord all fit inside the unit, which is very light weight, slim and makes it very easy to store. I used to own a professional type dryer with a hard bonnet on wheels that worked very well but took up a lot of space. So I was looking for something just like this Laila Ali dryer that I could easily hide away. At first I was skeptical that something this slim would be powerful enough to dry my hair. I usually roller set my hair, which is a little past shoulder length. I was pleasantly surprised; it worked really well and the bonnet was large enough to accommodate my head with medium and large size rollers. This hairdryer gets very hot! In fact I used it on the hottest setting for the first ten minutes then reduced to medium for the rest of the time (about 45 minutes for me) I would definitely recommend this hairdryer.

Belson is the company that produces this hair dryer as well as owning other brands like Gold-N-Hot, Brazillian Heat ect. Laila Ali only has her name on the product, nothing else.Dryer Weight: This bonnet dryer is extremely compact and very light weight making it easy to carry around out of the home if need be.Loudness: I've never used any hair dryer that was remotely quiet, however this dryer is one of the loudest I've used to date.Heat: High is very hot and will dry your hair in a short amount of time, however for me it is far too hot so I don't use it.Medium is also hot but not any where near as hot as hot. It will take much longer to dry on this setting but it is way more comfortable to use.Bonnet: There is a draw string on the bonnet that adjust quiet easily to any head size. When in use, the bonnet puffs up much like microwave popcorn, filling with heated air. Because the bonnet can get hot all around, it is best to have a damp towel on your neck to prevent any skin from burning on the neck.Hose: The hose connects to the bonnet in the back and with movement can come out. You do not need to tape the bonnet hose down as with limited movement it will stay in place.Time to dry with rollers: N/A I have not used the dryer for such purposes yet due to my hair being natural and it won't cooperate well with such styling.Overall for the price this is a pretty well made hair dryer. If taken care of properly it can last quite some time. I've purchased other products by belson and never had complaints with their quality. Anyone doing their hair at home should have a hooded dryer and this is a purchase that most won't complain about.
