Minor's Seafood Base, 16 Ounce

This is a fantastic flavor enhancement for soups, I even use it in beef stew for a great umami flavor.

I use this broth for seafood chowder, Italian and French soup. It’s terrific. Expensive true but worth it in the desert Southwest.

I used to use chicken powder. Ran out and bought Minor's chicken base. Then bought the vegetable base. Then the beef base, and ended up with the seafood base. These things are crazy easy to make great-tasting dishes. I'm a guy, but I like to experiment with new recipes. My family thinks I come up with this stuff from scratch and they love what I cook using these bases. These tubs last forever and a little goes a long way. Watch out for the salt. I salt stuff at the end of the cooking because some of the bases already have salt. I made a KILLER clam chowder with the seafood base. I'm downloading a seafood gravy to make with the seafood base after I type this.

I love the Minors bases but this one is just a little too fishy-tasting for me. Its VERY salty so don't use too much until you know just how salty it is. Not bad, just not my cup of tea. I would probably try the shrimp or lobster bases.

Minor’s is king of the hill where quality bases are concerned. I am way past the judging stage, knowing I have been using their products close to a decade. That fact does not mean that each and every product made by them is the best, but they do not cut corners, so it must be said. Minor’s Seafood Base has increasingly gone up in price, so while the price remains somewhat approachable I figure I buy again. Most seafood bases by other manufacturers misses the mark, even though I have used them out of sheer curiosity, but at the end of the day Minor’s rules. Very pleased to see Amazon carries their products, specially with Prime. It is a well known thing that our family thinks I am a better cook, and this I owe to Minor’s plenty of times. Can’t get enough, that’s for sure! 4.5 Stars.

Maybe product is amazing, but it arrived post expiration date— and though I am willing to accept that it may not be spoiled— how do I know? This isn’t a carton of milk that I can smell, and have regular experience with. Also, bummed to say that I ordered this because I saw the lobster on the package and thought it was lobster base—- my bad. Also, when I had a restaurant, we kept these in the refrigeration. And, I do agree, I have been buying the non minors brand they keep on the shelf at the market— so…. I just don’t think that I would order expired goods without knowing they were past recommended dates— if I had known, I could have saved myself the trouble of bothering to write this review.
