A very extensively researched work. The author deserves all praise. Adopts an original line of thinking in interpreting the influence of Saivism and neo-saivites on the Dravidian movement in Tamil Nadu. In the course of this research the author has narrated the life and works of Maraimalai Adigal without exaggeration. He has given an honest account of the life of Maraimalai Adigal giving a pen picture of all aspects of the person, relying mostly on his own diary entries. This remarkable work of research adds a new dimension to the interpretation of the Dravidian movement in Tamil Nadu. This is a dispassionate analysis, very well written. One should of course overlook repetitions in the course of this narration. These repetitions might have occurred because the author wants to emphasize certain points or in the course of putting together some articles written on different occasions. A must read!
