Smart Workshop Solutions: Buiding Workstations, Jigs, and Accessories to Improve your Shop

My wife and I are going to have a new house built. This book has a number of excellent ideas to use in designing my new shop.

A useful resource packed full of great ideas for shop accessories, work stations, and storage solutions. Also a great inspiration to designing and making your own custom accessories and shop solutions.

I found this book to be very good in listing useful shop jigs/solutions. It is rare in that it gives enough of the key dimensions to actually build the items. What I think I like best is that in some cases, it shows several similar jigs. You can combine the best of all if you like (which is what I usually do). This book is a great value.

Bought it as a gift. I enjoyed looking through it for ideas. I think it will come in handy

Great book with good Ideas

The information is presented logically. The pictures are clear. The designs are thought out and useful but as another reviewer noted, they are somewhat basic. There is nothing wrong with the book or the solutions it's just that at this point they've been done by so many people and are available everywhere. Look at any woodworking workshop and you'll probably find at least one or more variations and many have been made into Youtube videos. And while this is true for many tips/jigs books, it isn't true for all of them. For example, FW has a book called Ingenious Jigs that has a few unique designs I haven't seen anywhere else. If I were reviewing this book in 2003 when it was published, or even 2007, it would be a 4 or 5 star book. But today the ideas are so common as to be generic.

The router table/cabinet but to be honest, there are quite a few tips and shop solutions in the book so I am glad I got it. Good read and lots of good ideas for shop fixtures. Buy it used.

Ein kleiner Nachteil ist natürlich, dass man die englischen Maßangaben aus den Zeichnungen und Materiallisten für einen exakten Nachbau umrechnen muss. Die Eigeninterpretation schafft hier natürlich auch Abhilfe und an Vorlagen mangelt es in diesem Buch nicht um seine eigenen Vorstellungen umzusetzen - 5 Sterne.

Für alle, die sich eine (kleine) Werkstatt einrichten wollen, stellt Paul Anthony hier gute, brauchbare Ideen vor! Alles leicht nach zu bauen, die Anleitungen sind sehr brauchbar ! Es wird nichts gezeigt, was man nicht schon mal gesehen hätte - darum auch nur die vier Sterne - aber ein schönes, durchaus lesenswertes Buch. Englisch ist ein Muß, sonst macht's sicher nicht so viel Spaß.
