SHIMANO Sedona FD Spinning Reel

I don't do alot of fishing but have had this reel for several years and I am very pleased with it's quality and performance.

The quality of this reel is more than I expected, however because the Amazon page where I purchased it from was a little screwed up, I wound up getting the wrong size for my rod. I did not want to return it, so I got a smaller rod.

Having only used a fly rod previously, I purchased the Shimano Sedona reel along with a Shimnao Solora 7' rod for a fishing trip to Canada. The combination worked absolutely flawlessly. Fishing for pickerel and smallmouth bass, the action of the reel was smooth and precise and combined with the rod, casts were long and accurate. The combo handled the largest of several pickerel I caught (18") as well as the largest of several smallmouth bass in the 14" to 15" range with ease. I would have no qualms in recommending this particular combination to anyone looking for an efficient and inexpensive lightweight spinning package. Shimano Solora 2 Piece Spinning Rod

Good product but made in Malaysia.I expected Italy.But it's just great tool and only one negative point is that it's not so powerful.Good for small size fishing.

I give this reel a 5 Star Rating.This is the third Shimano Reel that I have purchased. All told, I have a 4000 Sedona, a 2500 and a 2000 Sedona.I purchased the 4000 for Salt Water Fishing of Red Fish, Speck Trout and Drum in South Texas. I couldn't be happier as it has stood up to the salt and daily rough boat use. I have even used it on a heavy rod with 20# line on a party boat fishing for Red Snapper.The 2000 and 2500 Shimanos are used for Walleye and Northern fishing in Canada. They are outstanding reels. I will buy another when needed.

Packaged good, this reel is a no brainer. Nothing in it class and price range comes close. Look shimano makes the best reels in the world. Simple as that. Been fishing hardcore for 30 years in salt and fresh, never had a shimano fail me, ever. I own at least 30 reels and they all work as good asthe day I bought them. Yes I service them, just like anything, maintence is key. But as far as design goes, shimano is king.

This thing froze up after 15 min on the ice. Cost me a nice walleye! Why do I have to use a certain amount of words to leave a review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this reel. This is my second Sedona 1000 FD, I will be purchasing 2 more to outfit my fishing needs. I just wish that they still made this in a 500 FD. I have found one place that still has a few 500's left but want to much money for them. So I went with the Shimano Sienna 500 FD. Another fine product from Shimano corp. to outfit my ice fishing rods. Both of theses reels are very reasonably priced and superior performance.

Not only does it perform flawlessly, but it also looks good. I bought this to replace my Shimano Sienna 500FD, which I have donated to my great niece who has demonstrated an interest in fishing :-) It arrived from Amazon.ca promptly and well-packaged, as usual.
