I know some brand does and that's why I want to replace mine.** A: It did when I tried it the first time. I washed it with warm water a couple of times and it didn't seem to do it again. This was for Thanksgiving dinner. I've yet to check it again. **Q: what size are the holes in the discs?** A: fine :0.08inch medium:0.16inch coarse:0.28inch **Q: What is the capacity?** A: The exact answer I dont have, probably around 4 cups to the brim, obviously you wouldn't want to fill it that full. But with that said, that mill was thrown away after second use. It added lovely metal shavings to my applesauce. **Q: Can I mill large quantities of raw garlic???** A: I have never tried. It works great and was easy to use. ### ⭐ Save your packing materials *by R***J on November 28, 2025* The packing materials it comes in are better quality than the product they contain. After 59 years of faithful service I had to get rid of my worn out food mill. I purchased this one. The old food mills ensured proper tension to strain/rice food by having a threaded nut with a spring scraper hold the moving handle/blades in place. This device uses a rather weak spring to achieve the same effect. It doesn't. After a few revolutions food begins to build up on the strainer disc, and eve when you reverse the rotation of the blade, it doesn't clean the compressed food away from the strainer disc. The result is that it takes ever more food mass added to force the compressed layer through the holes. Eventually you run out of food to add and have to manually scrape the compressed wasted layer. Bottom line? By comparison to older food mills this one is poorly engineered and cheaply built.
