I have tmj issues with my jaw, and i'm wondering if the chin strap would aggravate my jaw. anyone have experience with this?

Not if you don't pull it too tight. I experience similar where I clench my jaw and is largely uncomfortable most of the time. As a result, my neck is straightening. This contraption helps because the result is mimicking whiplash. So, in my opinion/my mentor's opinion yes this should help whatever you are experiencing without aggravating your jaw. It's not meant prolonged usage either, nothing over 13 minutes or something. Just don't pull the chinstrap too tight and read the instructions. The contraption does bring relief. *I'm a licensed massage therapist, and my mentor is a LMT + owner of a massage school.*

Is the air release valve the same as a safety valve which prevents over-inflation?

No, you have to determine for yourself if and when you have over-inflated and then release pressure as needed. The release valve is on the pump so it is easy to adjust the pressure. It is best to initially inflate the pump slowly to allow your body to adjust and "inform" you if you are overdoing it.

Is there a safety valve on this one?

The air release valve is just below the bulb used to inflate

I suppose in China. I used it and posture neck device is limited. Does not work so good...
