FibroPool Swimming Pool Heat Pump - FH255 55,000 BTU - for Above and inground Pools and Spas - High Efficiency, All Electric Heater - No Natural Gas or Propane Needed

Pulling the trigger on this pump was a tough decision, since it's not a name brand and there is so little information about the product online. I wanted to give my experience to hopefully help people make their decision a little easier. First, some details about my setup: I have a 13,000 gallon in ground pool in Phoenix, AZ that I now keep covered most of the day. I saw that a lot of positive reviewers were based in Florida, but I wasn't sure if this pump would still work with the cold winter nights in Phoenix. This is being written in January, and the weather here for the last week has been in the low 40s with highs in the mid upper 60s-mid 70s. I had the unit professionally installed, although I am sure most people would be able to do so themselves. I needed to have new electrical run and a new variable speed pump installed professionally, so I went ahead and had them install this at the same time. I had this installed January 9 and my pool temperature was 58 degrees. Over the last week, the pump has been running pretty much nonstop and the water is currently sitting at 81 degrees with a heat pump output of 83 degrees. The first few days saw the biggest jump in temperature, but most days are getting about a 2 degree bump. This is one thing to keep in mind with this unit...you won't see your pool go from freezing to swimmable overnight. But give it time to do its thing and it will keep getting warmer every day. I'm planning on heating until it hits 88, and maintaining that temperature from there. I've been keeping track of my energy usage, and so far with the new variable speed pump and the heat pump running all day, I am seeing a tiny increase in total energy usage over what I was getting with just my old inefficient single speed pump running 8 hours a day and no heater. The heat pump is QUIET! It is directly outside my bedroom window, which we keep open most nights, and it's virtually silent. Like others have mentioned here, if you have any questions and call the support line on the Fibropool website, you will be calling the owner of the company. You probably will go to voicemail and it might take him a couple days to call back, but he has always been happy to answer all my questions and has given me plenty of advice about using the heat pump. He's a super helpful guy. I was very hesitant to buy this, with such little knowledge about the company. But assuming this thing holds up and they stand by any warranty issues, I absolutely recommend this unit if you want to save a ton of money over the name brands.

I have had a pool for 28 years now and never thought I needed a heater. This year the weather has got down into the low 50‘s at night in late July (Cincinnati area) and the water was just unbearable at 76 degrees. I read reviews, as always before I purchase anything, and decided to order this heater. I am in 7th heaven now that my pool water is 88 degrees. I had it delivered late Friday and by 2 PM Saturday I had it up and running and by Sunday at the same time my pool water went from 76 to 82. The next day it was 88. I could not be more pleased with this product. I have an 18 foot x 52 in above ground in my yard so I built a little concrete pad to put it on, ran 10/2 wire for the 220 and bought some pvc at home depot to hook up my flex pipes. I bought a piece of 1 1/2 schedule 1 pvc and a 1 1/2 reducer to 1 1/4 threaded and screwed in the filter hose adapter (use plumbers tape) and it works great. I found I was losing 4 - 6 degrees of heat at night so I also got a solar cover and it only dropped 2. I would recommend this product to anyone that wants warmer pool water. It is quiet, heats the water fast, easy to install and program.

This is a pretty awesome unit. It looks good and works like a dream. My husband is an electrician, so he was able to do all of the install himself. He added power to the outside of the house, which made it easier to plug in the pool pump as well. He was able to have this up and running in one day, including all of the electrical work. He used cinder blocks and plywood to make a platform for both this heater and the pool pump. He covered it with tarp to keep the wood from getting wet. This pool heater runs pretty quietly- not any louder than the pool pump. I have to actually look to see if it is running. It is certainly not disruptive to the pool experience. The pump and heater are right outside out bedroom window and they are quiet enough that I can't hear them over the bedroom fan even with the window open. The heater does exactly what it is intended to do- heat the pool water! The pool water started at 65 degrees at about 7:00 p.m. In the morning, the pool was 75- when the outdoor temperature was only about 55 degrees. So not only did it keep the water from cooling, it increased about 10 degrees. The pool was a perfect 82 by afternoon. It is automatically set at 82 but you can adjust that. It's kept the pool at a perfect temp, as long as we've had the pump running. We did have an issue with the pump getting clogged with pine needles, and had the pump off for almost 2 days. The water was back down to 68 (no pump=no water heater running), but as soon as we got the situation fixed, the pool was right back up to 82 within a day. We live in the Pacific Northwest, so our "summer" doesn't come until mid July, and even then we get pretty chilly night temperatures. We have opened the pool weeks before we'd have been able to get it in it in the past. Even on hot summer days the temp only got up to about 78 (due to trees in the yard). It's like a dream come true to have warm water so early and so consistently! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because of the shipping condition. The heater was on a piece of wood with a cardboard box basically slid over the top. There was no styrofoam or any protection between the box and the heater. It looked like the box had been beaten up quite a bit and was in pretty rough shape. Upon unboxing, the heater has a few small dents, and one larger one. The heater box is dented in right at the control panel- so that the control panel is pushed in slightly. The control panel appears to be unaffected- it is running fine. Hopefully the dents are more cosmetic than anything. It would be great if the seller made the box slightly larger and included some sort of padding to keep the heater from being damaged in transit. This is a pretty expensive, large, and heavy item and would have been difficult to return if it had suffered critical damage in transit.

First season almost done, and it has worked great. I keep a solar cover on when not swimming and live in SW Ohio. I have a 32x16 above ground pool that gets sun from ~10:30am until ~6:30pm. The pool is just under 15k gallons. This unit easily handles the pool, and at times I have accidentally let the pool get too warm when a hot sunny day added to previous day's heat pump heating. It runs really quiet, and I haven't noticed any extremely hateful electric bills, but I use a lot of power. When I bought it, I didn't know (nor did anything on Amazon say so) it could do heat pump heat, additional electric coil heating and it can cool water too. I don't understand why for items in this price range they don't hire someone to coherently describe the full list of features in English. I would have bought weeks earlier had I not spent a lot of time reading comments and questions on multiple listings of this unit trying to figure out what exactly I would be buying. With heat pump only it seems to add 2 degrees F to the water as it flows through when the water is between 78 and 90 (my only testing so far). If you add the auxiliary electric heat it adds another degree. Cooling via the pump is one to two degrees down. Only downsides so far are: 1. The control head is silly. Can't tell in/out temps when it is off, can't adjust parameters when it is running. I am not sure if I can set it to run just during the day without buying an external timer. The interface purposely avoid the convenience of written language in favor of mostly vague symbology. I wish the instructions were on the unit, because I have to keep track of the manual. 2. The screws on the unit are made of very cheap metal and some of the holes don't line up great. Had a couple strip, but no big deal. Otherwise it is built well.

At the last place we lived, I installed a gas pool heater. It was pretty efficient, for a gas model. Moved south to central Cal, and after doing some research comparing electric versus gas versus heat pump, I went for this heat pump. It's a nice compact unit, easy to wire in and plumb. I'm very pleased with how quiet it is - both the fan and the compressor. It's control panel is straightforward - in fact, I haven't needed to change its default settings. It comes with a cable and box so you can remove the panel from the unit and mount it somewhere more easily accessible if you want to, though I didn't need to do that. On a moderately cool day, the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet is at least 2 degrees, with the water pump running at 50%. Not bad when you consider it's getting that heat from the ambient atmospheric temperature. So far, I'm very happy. **UPDATE 28 MAY 18** Well I love this thing. Yesterday I turned in on, as today looked like being a swim day, the first in a while. Water temp was 66F, and today I swam in 84F - perfect swimming temp. And it copes well with an in-ground pool that's just shy of 10,000 gallons. Still impressed with the low noise.

The package was received with some damage. There was really no shipping container other than just a box on all sides expect the bottom. The unit wasn't even shipped on a wood skid. Very poor! The damage seems to be isolated to the metal shell on both the front and side panels. I'm pretty disappointed about this. I've been running the unit for a couple of days now and doesn't seem to effect the functionality. The pool started at 72 degs when I started the unit yesterday. My days have been in the 80's but the nights have been in the mid to low 60's. The first day the pool got to 75 degs after running it for about 7 hrs. I shut it down overnight since the ambient temp was going so low and the heater does work very good that low. The pool got up to 77 today and plan to keep it running overnight. to see if it helps maintain the temp. I really wanted to go with a gas heater but the cost to install both a electrical and gas was going to be too much since you need to keep both lines separated by at least 3 feet.

After reading the reviews this seemed like it would be a decent quality heater at a reasonable price. Maybe it would be, but the one I received was seriously damaged in shipping. The panel with the plumping and electrical connections was smashed and the gauge glass was broken. I called the Fibropool customer service number and it rang for a long time. When voicemail finally picked up I couldn’t understand the message. I decided to send it back. That part went well. Not sure if I’ll try to order one again

So after speaking with the owner of this small company, he assured me this heatime pump was the right size for my pool. It is kidney shaped ando 24 feet long by 13 feet wide. I live in a very humid and mild climate of South Florida which should be optimal operating conditions for a heat pump. To my extreme disappointment, despite letting it run day and night, it has failed to raise my pool temperature more than a degree or so. Basically, any temperature change seems to be more attributed to the warming and cooling of the ambient air than the heat pump. Now I get an increased electric bill for no added benefit. The company has no return policy so buyer beware. The only reason I am giving this product two stars is because it does appear made well and does operate, it is simply significantly under powered for my pool. I would ONLY recommend this for a small hot tub or micro pool. Otherwise steer clear. You get what you pay for. Lesson learned.
