Q: How cold does the water get?

It’s cold, but my previous machine seemed colder. We love it more for the coffee. The hot water gets b\very hot.

Q: Is the 43” measurement with the iPod storage door open ? It just fits under my shelf but want to make sure I can open the storage door on top

No I am sorry the 43" is to top of the unit. The compartment door adds another 11" fully open. Best of luck.

Q: Water is at room temperature . Is there something I’m not doing?

There are switches on the back that turn on hot and cold water
