Some of us were especially mesmerized and had to find out what made them do that. It turns out that this is a property called "thermochromism" and it can be implemented in a number of ways. This particular thermochromic pigment is a Leuco dye type pigment which is made up of a mixture of Leuco dyes, weak acids and salts microencapsulated in polymer. Sounds complicated, right? Nah, it's not so bad.All you need to know is that this is a very fine, colored powder that changes to a clear powder when you heat it to about 72°F (22°C). This is really cool for a lot of reasons. You can mix this pigment with paint to create thermochromatic paint for craft projects or to make temperature indicators. It mixes with Sugru and Polymorph as well, rendering them both thermochromatic. Use a controllable electric heating source and you could even build a thermochromatic display!This pigment comes in a 20g bag, which is more than enough to play with and just enough for a good sized project (depending on what you're doing with it). It worked perfectly, and I can't say I have any complaints.It's a nice dark charcoal when cold (not jet black unfortunately, but that's about what I expected), and a light lime tone when warm. It's not a NEON lime, so keep that in mind. Its colors are actually pretty true to the image on the listing.I did end up needing to return it due to my own mistake however. I'd wanted something that would change color easily/quickly, so I bought this because it required a relatively low temperature to change color...though I failed to realize that where I live+what time of year it is means my "room temperature" is super close to the temperature for color change. They're not joking when they say it's formulated for colder temperatures. Somehow I missed that in the description. Whoops! Instead of it resting at black, its resting color was some oddly-colored midpoint between the lime and black, and I could only get it to black by sticking the little ziplock packet in the fridge/freezer for a couple minutes. Definitely not what I intended, let alone needed for my project. So definitely make sure you take temperature into consideration when deciding what thermochromatic pigment to get.But like I said before, it worked perfectly well. Even just by putting my hand on the ziplock of pigment WHILE IT WAS STILL INSIDE MY FRIDGE, I got a color change almost immediately. It took a just a few seconds to get to the full lime tone from cold. If you live in a cold area or want to use this during the winter, this thermochromatic pigment is perfect! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for Slime! *by M***. on Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2019* We bought this to make party favors for our daughter's birthday party. Pigment worked beautifully when mixed into slime. We used Elmer's Washable Clear Glue with Tide Free and Gentle as the activator. It took less than 2 teaspoons of pigment per 8 oz of prepared slime to get a beautiful deep color. Each package has enough pigment to make at least 3 batches of 8 oz slime - maybe more as you could probably get away with using even less pigment than we did. The Thermochromatic effect is awesome! When we first mixed it in, the slime was bright pink and it looked like it was changing to purple as it warmed up (see photo). 24 hours later, the slime was 100% purple. We thought maybe the thermochromatic effect had worn off, but it just reversed - now it turns pink as it gets warmer. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing pigment.
