Upon unpacking, no component sustained any damage or scratches. It was easy to separate individual components, and they were well marked with a white adhesive square with a black letter. Component “N” (2 pcs.) was not marked at all, but since they were the only ones unmarked, and with the help of the excellent parts list pictures, I was able to determine which 2 pcs. were “N”. I was not able to locate component “H” (1 pc. – Front crossbar). I also was able to determine that I received three pieces of component “I,” and no piece of component “H.” These two pieces are almost identical, with component “I” having a slot for the back panel “G”, and piece “I” having no such slot. A review of the assembly instructions showed me that assembly was still possible, and that the slot would be hidden by being face down and at the top of the nightstand. I had a couple issues with the wood screw holes. Three holes were drilled slightly too large and the wood screw stripped when slightly tightened. This was easily corrected by inserting a toothpick into the hole to take up space, and assembly was continued without further incident. The nightstand is actually made of solid wood (appears to be pine) and I could not locate any pressboard or veneer. The top slider for the hidden compartment assembly was challenging, but not impossible. A close look at the instructions on page six made the assembly easier. It is just clumsy and would have been easier with two people helping. It helped me by extending the top sliders and hand feeding them onto the night stand sliders until the ball bearings connected. The instructions were clear and concise and well-illustrated. Once completely assembled, the item is moderately heavy but not unduly so as it is solid wood. With the lower two drawers removed, it could easily be manipulated to the position or location you wish. I read some buyers had issues with the locking mechanism. I wish to point out that there is a rubber bumper inserted in the slide rail on the top sliding cover. When closing the top, a slight extra effort may be initially needed to engage the locking mechanism. When opening, when it was new, after using the magnetic key, a slight push toward the wall was needed to disengage the lock. You will hear an audible “click.” I have opened and closed the top many times now and it opens easier as the lock pin blends into the hole in the wood. I do not mind that the lock is secured by the rubber bumpers under slight pressure, and it is just a matter of understanding how the top locking mechanism works. All in all, this is a well-made item, it is truly solid wood, and well worth the purchase price. I personally wish to thank Customer Service Representative for the wonderful assistance and input. This item is made in Thailand and not in China as it says in the Amazon listing. Hope this helps someone. UPDATE 03/15/2025: Everything still great. Rubber slider bumpers getting worn-in and I am having to push less and less toward the wall to get lock to "click" open. Just a final note: when opening, remove magnet key right away. This will allow locking pin to drop and ride along top ridge to another hole and "lock" open. (Think of it as a slider limiter!) To close from this "locked open" position, just put key back onto unlock position and move the top toward the wall. Remove magnetic key and pin will drop into the "lock closed" hole. Failure to move magnetic lock key after open will allow top sliding shelf to come all the way off if you let it keep traveling away from the wall. Don't ask me how I know (LOL!). What I do now is unlock it, slide the top, remove the key, get what I want, and push it back closed. There will always be some of the hidden drawer under the sliding top. It is not meant to open that far. Hope this helps. It is a great looking item and well-made and well designed.

Well made & Real solid Wood. Everything lined up just fine during assembly. The only downside was the 1.5 inch depth for the hidden shelf. I was however able to increase the depth by inverting the hidden shelf, (installed upside down) which now gave me a total of just over 2-1/4 inch depth. To further strengthen the inverted shelf, I installed small shelf brackets underneath. Other than the depth issue, this is a great buy. Also during assembly make sure you line up the drawer screws properly wth the pre drilled holes, otherwise you’ll have stripping issues. I don’t know why they did not design this with greater dept n the hidden shelf snce it appears possible given its design.

I would like to start this off by saying this was by far the biggest waste of money and cheapest piece if crappy furniture I've ever had the misfortune of handling. Here's why: As this product was listed for hundreds of dollars I assumed I wouldn't be getting the IKEA run of the mill, cheap flimsy corrugated wood type of stuff that you oh so often see when buying from big places like that but ohh was I wrong. Non of my pieces where actually cut to the correct dimensions which has hindered the assembly process but after a few hours which should have taken a like 20 minutes I had it together and it Deffinatley looks like the wood was not cut right. So most of the pieces where not actually lining up not to mention the mother of all gems with this piece of furniture and why I went out of my way to pay a bit extra to try and find this "nicer" one. This horrible magnetic lock mechanism on the hidden compartment will never actually slide closed it never lines up so it never actually locks the thing just slides around providing no security whatsoever to anyone. These reasons are why this was by far one of the worst purchases I've ever made in Amazon and I beg you not to make the same mistake or give this company another dime to keep producing this obviously shotty furniture. EDIT: the entire top portion will not even close anymore it doesn't lock and just slides around now I've tried and tried and tried to get it to close. It's so misaligned from the manufacturer that it will probably never close again and now even the slightest nudge sends the entire top sliding out this has been the worst experience ever and not once have I been contacted by customer service about it. And I've tried to contact them they refuse to acknowledge that they sold me a defective unit.

After searching dozens of potential products on Amazon I decided to take a chance on this product. I could not be more pleased with the results. I had a slight problem during assembly of top track to line up with the nightstand base track but I will take the blame for that since I did eventually get it to line up and fit correctly. This is a nice looking piece of furniture and not a cheap press-board type of wood. The locking mechanism is effective and so simple in design that it is genius. If you need a small space to safely store items then this might be good for you. There is plenty of room but be cautioned that the height is only about one and a half inches. Take that into consideration when you think about that items you wish to store. All in all it is an awesome product that looks very nice as well. In practical terms I haven't mentioned that it has two roomy drawers with a large open space to place other non-hidden items as well.

This is all wood, no particle board like Sauder and other crap furniture. The top is not 1 solid piece it's glued and mortised but it's wood. Assembly was easy not sure what others are talking about. I did it in 15 minutes and I only have 1 leg. Lock works perfectly. They package it really well, so unless shoppers throw and drop it, should arrive fine. Not 5 stars because the wood quality is not highest but it's a nice piece of furniture

Beautiful, putting it together was tough. Now the top won't completely close. May have to get help as I don't want to man handle it and break it.

Purchased one for each side of the bed, I took a chance on these seeing all the bad reviews, honestly I love them putting them together was not as bad as most are saying, I will say the screws for the drawers were a tad short and and started to strip out the hole but I had some longer ones to use, the magnet could be a little stronger but the lock does work. The boxes they were in were full of styrofoam to protect the product during shipping non of the wood was damaged, they look great and were exactly what I was looking for for nightstands... oh and they’re not made in China but are made in Thailand lol still not a bad product!
