I honestly do not think you can get a better bait runner reel with this quality for this kind of money. I originally purchased the 3000 as a reel for my medium feeder rod that I use for pellet feeder and method fishing, so smooth, fighting drag is excellent too, works the way it should and has never let me down yet. great line capacity and the transition from free running bait runner to engaging the reel is again so smooth. the free run lever is nice and easy to operate, same as on any shimano reel, positive and smooth. the reel itself is of what seem to be quality materials and well put together, eye pleasing too if that floats ya boat. the anti-reverse works as it should and again is seamless, with no play at all ! I would highly recommend this reel if your budget is under Β£30....all day long ! I find now when using braid, smaller reels more useful when roaming. This is a very smooth reel. I have had no problems casting dead baits for pike fishing. My first pike on it (though not a big one 8lbs) the clutch worked very well. I had intended to get a more expensive small baitrunner reel (as I find expensive ones last longer and are usually more reliable) but the one I wanted was not available. So far this reel has surprise me especially for the price. The only issues I have are a spare spool would be handy, the fold up handle does not lock up when not in use, and the line does not lay as smoothly on the spool as on my more expensive reels.
