A great device
A great device for working in bad weather! I work as a cable installer, and when it rains, this umbrella is a lifesaver, protecting my devices from the rain and keeping my hands free, which is very convenient. I even used this umbrella when working on a ladder.

Looks nutty but works like a charm
Reviewed by spouse (but husband note - this thing looks absolutely ridiculous but works amazingly well): OK, this was a crazy purchase, but I think it’s actually going to work quite well. I have had two bouts with skin cancer, but still want to be able to enjoy going to the lake or the ocean, and need more protection than a regular hat can provide. A lot of times the hats get wet and they don’t hold their form so they don’t provide a lot of protection. Even though this looks a little strange to be wearing out and about in the water, I think it’ll serve a really good purpose. It was pretty easy to open. It’s sort of like an umbrella and you just have to make sure that that little white/clear piece from the inside goes all the way through the top small opening of the “umbrella like covering” and it’ll lock in place. To get it to “deflate”, you just press the little clear/white button on the top of the umbrella and it’ll go back down through the hole and will deflate per see. It can get wet with the waves and hold it form and provide significant sun protection. The only thing I think they can improve upon would be making the hat portion inside adjustable as it’s a bit too big for me.

Best for use as a Sun Hat
I wish the quality was more solid. Its pretty flimsy and looks like it'll break easily if you aren't careful. I like the size of the umbrella especially for someone like myself in a wheelchair. I wish it had a clear window so you can easily see through the umbrella as it does block your vision a bit. Overall it's a good sun hat but it does advise not for use on Windy weather. I have rain coming in my forecast for about a week so we'll see how it holds up.

The children really love when I wear it! It does keep the sun away. Not very stable on your head. A slight breeze will blow it.

Don’t buy. It hurts. Broke 1st time used. Waste of money.
Don’t buy it. It hurts your head. It BROKE 1st time I used it, thus, becoming useless. Waste of money. I bought the most expensive umbrella hat I found hoping it wouldn’t break like the cheap ones. The goal was to use it for outdoor activities that require the use of both hands while protecting face and body from being exposed to the sun damaging effects and also in order to keep us cooler. The first time I put it on I was excited with the prospect of its apparent promising results. There was a very, very mild wind on that sunny day. So mild that all delicate flowers, teas, veggies and fruit plants that had been recently planted remained sturdy, healthy, unchanged. Nonetheless, such insignificant breeze was enough to immediately break the umbrella hat, rendering it useless for the purpose it was bought for. Don’t bother buying it. It is a piece of junk. Either look for something stronger that can last more than 0.5 times using it, or buy a large quantity of the cheap ones to use it as disposable items. Very disappointed. And for such an expensive price! The manufacturer, distributor and sellers should be ashamed of selling it. I believe I paid $26.99. I found a similar (crappy) one for $6 downtown that, so far, has held up more than 2 weeks of daily use. Additionally, to make it stay put, the ‘around the head’ harness is required but it feels too tight and gives a terrible headache, which gets worse if a breeze blows and moves the umbrella around your head. That makes you want to take it off, which renders you completely unprotected from the sun. I dread the idea that I wasted my time and money buying this trash and now, again, have to waste it writing this review. I wish we could give it ZERO stars. Unfortunately, 1 star is the minimum we can give.

Overall good
Got this as a funny gift for my dad since he is a mail carrier but he actually uses it to block the sun while mowing. Good purchase

It really works. Keeps sun off. Keeps rain off. Hands free. The written instructions were incomprehensible. But once you figure it out, a piece of cake to open and close.
