best book on shamanism i have ever read
best book on shamanism i have ever read, very useful information except for one thing, she has dragons, which are nothing more than shape shifters in a section where there is no warning! These are pure demonic entities, and very powerful telepaths, they can and will overwhelm you, the mark of the beast, yeah, read the lyrics to skin walker for that. Not so hard to figure out, very dangerous. Good will back out when asked to , evil once invited in will not. They stay in the shadows controlling you, why do you think they are called they watchers?, All evil does this. And so it is the same with dragons, which are quite real. And very dangerous.BEWARE.AND THEY WILL ALWAYS MAKE YOU FEEL YOU ARE IN CONTROL, ALWAYS, IT IS PART OF THE ILLUSION once you say it is ok for them to be there. Stay attached to your own higher self. And hang out with Maet and Dike the Goddeses of Truth and justice before you do any of this. They will not steer you wrong.

A great beginning for the blended spiritual paths
Amber Wolfe's book, In the Shadow of the Shaman is a clear concise guide for those wishing to enrich their own magical traditions with shamanistic practices. Her personal "notes on the journey" clearly explain the various manifestations shamanism can take once you invite it into your magical practice and life.

shamanic treasure chest of tools
Love this book. I have been studying shamanism for many years, and I have collected many shamanic and Wiccan friends along the way. Though they believe as I do, they practice things like the medicine wheel a little differently than me. and we all know something a little different than the other, so we learn so much. This book reminds me of my collective group, bringing tremendous knowledge from many sources. This book is a treasure chest of spiritual tools. I'm so glad a friend recommended it. You'll love it too! You will learn a lot and you will have spiritual rituals to keep you busy all year!

Highly recommended
I highly recommend this book to anyone interested, or just curious, about Shamanism. The reference guides within it make the book worth twice the price all by themselves. The explanations are clear, and the set up of information very well organized for learning.

Not a book about Shamanism, also watch out for the cultural appropriation
I do not recommend this book to anyone who takes their path as a Witch seriously or who wants a book about Shamanism. There's some cultural appropriation happening, which turned me off right away, and this author's use of the word Shaman is really just a word for Witch in my opinion. I wish she'd just used the word 'Witch' because this book is not about any traditional Shamanism.

Excellent!
I find this book a very good book on general Shamanism. The book takes quite a bit from Native American Seneca tradition and offers Celtic, Wiccan, and Aquarian information as well. It is easy to read and understand and could be very useful as an instructional tool or for personal expansion. Recommended!

A great read
I bought this book years ago but lost it through moving. This time I bought it again thinking it would be a newer publishing of the book. Imagine my positive surprise when it had the original cover from decades ago!!Thanks to royal mail it turned up a couple of days later than expected. But it finally turned up.Having this book in my hands once again for the first time in decades felt like having an old friend.I know some people say it's not real shamanism and it's appropriation of native American Indian religion . But shamanism was a part of many different cultures all over the world. We used to call them medicine people or wise people. In the UK we had druids which is akin to shamanism. If a religion shows us a path to understanding and love, isn't that a good thing? If you are new to shamanism or any religion that's similar then this is the book for you. It's a great beginners book.(And I finally understood why I mostly use only the major arcana when reading tarot!! I got it from this book decades ago!)If nothing else, this book is a good one to learn how to meditate and centre yourself. So happy to have it back in my collection again!!Xx

In the Shadow of the Shaman
Amber Wolfe, is a funny, intelligent, and captivating author. I fell in love with her words when she was describing a scene from her life in which she needed strength, it humanised her, and therefore I was able to connect with the book so much, that it is one I always go back to as a refrence (it is absolutely packed full with information) or as a tool of comfort, or even if I feel I need to re awaken my own connections. Based from an angle of new age Shamanism, I doubt if reflects the Classic views perfectly, but why should perceptions not grow, ideas flourish? This book combines Wicca and Shamanism beautifully.
