Sturdy rake that gets the job done!
I ordered this roof rake online because all the stores were out of stock...seems the nasty weather this winter and subsequent roof collapses sent everyone scurrying to the stores to snap up the remaining rakes. Luckily, I got the last couple of rakes online and was able to expedite shipping to get them before the last storm. The rake itself is very simple to put together (2 screws/bolts) and no directions are needed, although the box shows how to assemble it. Took me about 3 minutes to put together. The poles click right into place (and detach) with easy to depress click buttons. The rake has an excellent reach and is very manageable even when assembled to the full length because it's made of aluminum. I borrowed a friend's roof rake before I got this one...hers had a plastic rake head which was heavy and made it very difficult to maneuver the rake along the roof, not to mention giving my arms and back early muscle fatigue. This roof rake was much lighter and easier to manipulate...I was able to use it for 2 hours straight without overstraining my arms or back. The metal of the rake head is also good at chopping through layers of snow crust that may have formed on the top of the snow or layers underneath...this rake did a much better job of that than my friend's borrowed plastic rake head. Overall, an excellent product!

Difficult assembly due to poor workmanship
The holes in both twisted brace bars did not align with the blade and handle by a significant amount. I had to re-bend them just to get the holes aligned closely enough to get the bolts started, and forced everything together by tightening them. Also, huge burrs in the holes drilled in the handle tubes prevented them from going together and locking. Iโm a machinist and have the tools to deburr them, but the average person may have difficulty. Itโs all put together now and Iโm sure it will work fine from this point on, but for almost $100, I didnโt expect to have to fuss with the assembly that much.

Good roof rake
I have never owned a roof rake before so was hesitant to purchase as I've never needed one in the past. This worked well. After 1 use the metal strap / brackets got bent a little bit but it still works really well.

simple well made tool
I really needed this tool, and it came to the house faster then estimated, which was a huge plus. It was easy to put together and the poles go together and come apart really easy too. It is a work out to use, if you waited to long and have three feet of snow on the roof like I had. It was effective, and even broke through the crust of ice that had happened during one of the storms. It held together, and seems to be good product. I am glad I picked this one, some of reviews for other snow rakes seemed to have a lot more complaints in them.

You've got to be kidding me
I purchased this in 2011, after a severe snow pile up left us with interior ceiling damage as things began to melt. I thought about opening the package many times to make sure all of the parts were inside, but I didn't. "How many parts could there be?" I thought. "Surely it's highly unlikely that it will be missing a critical component." Yes, I am dumb. Fast forward to today. We've had no significant snow since 2011, but today we're in blizzard Nemo. Happily, I retrieve my boxed roof rake from the garage. I open it and--SURPRISE! No hardware. No brackets, no bolts. No way to attach the head to the poles whatsoever. And conditions are already bad enough that I won't be heading out anytime soon. Unbelievable. I called Midwest Rake, and they are happily shipping me a hardware packet, but are somehow unable to get it to me any faster than standard UPS shipping... which, given the weekend, will get it here in 5 or more days. Fantastic. And we're forecasted to have MELTING DEGREE temperatures prior to that date. So. Looking forward to more ceiling damage this year! Thanks, Midwest Rake! MORAL: Always open the package and check for parts immediately. No, you can't trust anyone to get it right the first time.

Seems Like Just the Ticket, but...
I have a roof above my front porch that never sees sunlight in the winter and snow can turn to ice dams pretty quickly. Use this for the first time last winter and it is perfect for what I need to do. Clearing that roof is easy now and having no ice dams in the winter will extend the life of the roof and gutters. UPDATE: after one year of use, the springs holding the sections together failed. I now have to connect it with duct tape. Giving up completely and ordering one of a different design
