If I cut the quick this will stop the bleeding as soon as you put it on the nail. I have not used it for scratches or cuts. **Q: Can a human use this product for cuts and nicks?** A: The short answer is yes, a human CAN technically use this on cuts/nicks. My sister worked for a vet for many years, and they had the styptic sticks stocked at the vet office. The veterinarian gave her a few one day and told her she could use it. She gave one to me, and it worked great. **Q: My dog bites himself , can this be used for that?** A: Well..this is a powder used to stop bleeding. For instance if I clipped a dog, cat, rabbits toenail to the quick and it bleeds. I would think your dog need a steroid shot and meds of some type if he bites himself.
