Octagon SF8008 Combo

Very disappointed to find when I had to use my Wifi with this that it does NOT pick up 5G wifi from my home router...only 2G. This means slow speeds and therefore not possible to use 4K UHD streams....not good for a box that is advertised as a 4K UHD box and also described as "dual band". It has the 2 antennae on the back so that is very misleading. I have tried to contact the seller and the manufacturer to see if this can be replaced, or upgraded to solve this. If they help I will change my review to 5 stars. Edit : They sent me the "Supreme" model which does have 5G wifi. However, this model has other problems such as a weak tuner which gives you picture and sound dropouts and glitches every 10-20 minutes on it's T2 / C, terrestrial tuner. They need to put the better (older) tuners in the Supreme model, or just start again with the design. I cannot recommend any Octagon products after all of the time I have wasted on these 2 boxes.

Have read good things about the Octagon so purchased it for use in another room . We wanted a twin tuner so it would allows us to record a programme while watching another channel . Unfortunately the Octagan consisted on one input for your satellite cable and a second input for your terrestrial antenna. We decided to stick with it although the user manual is minimal in English and German, it provides no guidance on how to set up the system, we spent ages mucking about with it with little success and in the end we have had to ask a Sat installer to programme the set up.

It is a fine piece of German engineering, but it is spoiled by the Linux OS which is very difficult to navigate and set up for use. I did enquire and was told there is no setup manual. It was with regret that I had to return the unit.

After two days of use, the print on the remote control began to disappear.

The build quality of this receiver is not good. Better ones out there.
