Brother SA186 Metal Open Toe Foot

I can’t believe I actually tried to appliqué without this foot. What a joke. I’m not sure why my machine didn’t come with this foot, but I’m so glad I broke down and purchased it. It made appliqué much more fun and precise.

Fit my Brother CS6000i perfectly. Well made, quality product. Provides adequate visibility for machine appliqué. Solved my issues learning this skill. The seller was efficient, shipped item promptly in adequate packaging and thorough. Would buy from them again

I like using the open toe presser foot for my general sewing. I can actually see where I’m sewing

The first foot I received had the red markings shown in the photo but was only about 6.5mm between the inside edges of the foot which is not wide enough for a 7mm stitch. If the foot is too narrow, the needle will hit the foot when doing a 7mm stitch. The seller sent me another foot that didn't have the red markings and was the same size between the inside edges as the first foot. Again too narrow for the 7 mm stitch. NEITHER foot was in Brother packaging, they just must have used the picture from the Brother website. I just gave up trying to get the real product after two tries and not a huge dollar amount. I went to a "real" Brother dealer to see what their SA186 foot looked like. It has a full 9mm inside the two metal edges which is enough to accommodate the 7mm stitch plus the width of the needle. I didn't buy another metal foot because the dealer's price was $29.00. I just kept using my clear plastic foot which is also a Brother product and has the necessary width. The difference between the metal foot and the plastic one (besides the material) is the red markings which are a big help in stitch placement. If you want to get the open toe SA186 foot, make sure it is in Brother packaging that is labeled "SA186". Otherwise you'll be disappointed.

Purchased this SA186 Metal Open Toe Foot and the SA147 Clear Open Toe Foot for my Brother Innovis 2800D sewing machine and both work wonderfully and are compatible with my machine. Wish I would of purchased this presser foot a lot sooner since I sew a lot and having an open toe foot makes it much easier to follow the sewing lines, especially working with smaller pieces. I make primitive doll patterns and would recommend this to anyone sewing applique or patterns such as mine.

I am so grateful to finally have this open toe foot. It makes all the difference when I sew appliqués on my quilts. It fit perfectly on my old Brother SQ-9000 sewing machine. Highly recommended....

I bought this foot to help my aging eyes see the tiny doll clothes I sew more easily. It does the trick and seems to be of excellent quality, just what I'd expect from a genuine Brother part. I bought it to use with my Brother Project Runway machine.

Where has this foot been all my life? It is worth every penny. Finally I can see where my stitch line is (I like to mark it with a Frixion pen before sewing). It works really great with paper piecing quilts. Love, love love it!
