If your car came with the Infrared units (universal Infrared frequencies: CH A: L/2.3MHz,R/2.8MHz; CH B: L/3.2MHz,R/3.8MHz) to send signal to these Infrared wireless headphones then they should be well worked. If it uses bluetooth or some other technology these would not work.

I bought a pair for my xtrons car dvd which has ir transmission. the light turns green on b but no sound whatsoever. any ideas?

So sorry for this inconvenience. And here we propose some suggestions for your reference as below:

1. If it’s the first time for you to use universal IR headphones and experience no sound, most are caused by frequencies deviation (non-universal). Pls check IR sensor frequencies of your car DVD player and make sure they are compatible with these headphones (CH A:L/2.3MHZ,R/2.8MHZ; CH B: L/3.2MHZ,R/3.8MHZ),or you will need to return these headphones and purchase the original ones.  
    
2. If your car DVD’s IR frequencies are universal, pls pay attention to the IR transmitting angle & distance. There maybe no sound or cracking if too far away, or not in sight of IR transmitter, this is the limitation of the IR system type, not the product itself.   
    
3. Be sure to switch the headphone to the same channel as the car DVD’s IR transmitter.  
    
4. Set the volume of your audio device (e.g., car DVD player, PC or TV etc.) to a sufficient level to ensure steady sound signal, or sound will cut out.
