I recently had new carpet installed in the house and wanted more space in one of the guest rooms. So I got rid of the full size bed and added the futon. I strongly suggest laying out all of the pieces to ensure you have every thing and read through the full instructions (as well as reading reviews on the experience of others). The wooden dowels referenced with the hardware list were already attached to the back deck. Make sure you have plenty of space for assembly and that you have measured where you are going to put it. NOTE: the instructions state to leave the side bolts loose and it means very loose or you will run in to issues getting the back deck into the arms. We thought we had them loose enough but had to adjust.It took us 4 hours to assemble. I am 62 and not very strong due to shoulder surgery in December and my husband is 74. You can deduct about 45-minutes of arguing time :) from that but if you are focused I think this could be completed in a couple of hours. We find it takes two people to open and close it which isn't a big deal since it will be used occasionally. We were both very pleased with the comfort of sitting on it when in sofa position and it is comfortable when both of us lay on it. The side table arms are really nice. I have a queen size fiber bed that will go on top for sleeping. It is a very nice and sturdy piece of furniture. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ and the mattress itself is a good color and reasonably firm *by D***T on Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2017* Update on comments:The futon is being used as both bed and couch daily. The mattress has definitely lost its loft; the frame, other than the comments below, is holding up fine through regular use/conversion. I have tightened screws, etc., a couple of times.I'll leave the current start rating pending contact with the seller/manufacturer regarding their 4-year warranty on the futon part. It still looks good, in spite of the thinning out of the futon innards.Original comments:I got this in mid-June 2017 and have been using it and converting it from couch to bed nearly daily since then. Assembly was as others have noted (and their write-ups helped), and the mattress itself is a good color and reasonably firm. I think the foam is losing some of its memory, but not uncomfortably so far.Up until last week, all was just fine. But then the front bar - where your knees hang over when it's a couch - got loose. There are four bolts that secure this, and either because it's drier now, or because of the constant use, things got wiggly. This meant it became cranky to convert from bed to couch. And as part of this, one of the striker plates on the front bar that help keep it in couch position got bent and then popped off.Being handy, I've tightened the bolts and hammered out the striker and reinstalled it (It came pre-installed IIRC). But now I have to add "check the tightness" to the list of things to do on a regular basis. Bummer. Oh, and one of the split pins worked itself free from the clevis-style pin that lets the back and seat pivot to form the bed; that may have been installer oversight on my part.I will likely try to add a couple of drops of lock-tight(sp?) to the bolts next time. But this suggests a design flaw that could catch the unwary. Perhaps had they included nylon lock nuts it wouldn't have worked free in just six months time. ### ⭐ Buyer beware! *by S***. on Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2019* I purchased this futon for my teenage son in December 2018. Less than a year later the wood underneath cracked in half within 6 months of purchase. The seller did absolutely nothing to help.
