Good Pen, Nice to Use
I bought this pen having seen it reviewed on YouTube , recommended as a good ‘beginner’ fountain pen. It’s certainly that.Previously I had bought a pack of 4 cheap plastic retractable fountain pens, made in China. They worked ok, but, the differences were immediately apparent. The pen is far less scratchy and noticeably smoother to write with. The triangular design makes it comfortable to hold. The price is comparable to other ‘cheaper’ fountain pens. Many die-hard pen collectors seem to recommend it.I have also bought a slightly more expensive TWSBI Eco, again following recommendations on youtube. The TSWBI is, for me a more substantial and nicer pen. But that is reflected in the price. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Lamy Safari. If you’re thinking of buying one, looking to use fountain pens, perhaps for the first time, I recommend it. This is the start of my pen collection!

Exceptional pen
I'd never used a fountain pen before so I can't compare the Lamy to any other, but I really wanted to try one. I'd watched a few YouTube videos and read some reviews, so I thought I'll just give it a try, especially since the price isn't too hideous. Well, I have to say, it's been a real treat to sketch with. The ergonomics is great, so comfortable to hold, and while I wasn't so sure how I'd get on with a nib pen, it's very easy to use and sketching is so fluid. The extra ink cartridges certainly came in use, you can get a fair few sketches from one, but they soon run out because I just can't put it down.

Nice
This pen is great. Very quickly became my favorite and extended the life of my micron and other fancy pens as I'm not using them for lists or note taking any more. Not sure about the reviews claiming they are knockoffs - look pretty genuine to me. Only difference I see from mine and the demo one at the stationary shop is the price.

Good starter pen, but it's not my go to pen
I got this for my first fountain pen and have been using it for about 3 or 4 months now. It is pretty light in the hand, so the weight is similar to other ballpoint pens (i.e. Pilot G-2 ballpoint). I like the cartridge refills it came with and the ink color is very nice.I go through ink pretty quickly, so I decided to get separate bottles of ink and a converter for this Lamy. The converter is Lamy brand and from the Lamy sellers. I am not crazy about the design of the converter for this particular pen. The converter has a rectangular twist mechanism for filling/emptying the converter and is thin and very fragile. Mine cracked my first use and I had to get a replacement. So although I like this pen itself, the brand's converter (not included) is a mark against it for me.As I said, I got this for my first fountain pen. I have since bought some others with different size nibs and different designs/brands. I like the width of letters/lines using this pen, but I will say that this Lamy is less comfortable to hold long-term (as a student, I write a LOT of notes) than my other pens. It works fine and the price is good and I still use it very frequently. But the triangular area where your fingers hold the pen is very tight and causes some strain in my hand. I have some wider/fatter fountain pens that are circular and easier to hold that I prefer to use.TL;DRpros- cheap, writes well, cartridge refills nicecons- uncomfortable to write with for extended time (fine for memos, not for novels), if opt to buy converter for ink bottle refill (cheaper long-term) Lamy Brand converter poor design
