Beautiful illustrations and story
The book came in a little late but the content was enough to make up for it. The illustrations were consistent and portrayed the story very well. The writing was also magnificent to lead the story on. I felt the book could have expanded more and I was a little disappointed for its shortness when I reached the end, as it seemed like it had the potential to show more. I was able to read the book in one day because the graphics, style, planning, etc. were excellent and enough to keep me hooked. I bought the book to research more about graphic novels and how authors/artists go through publishing, and the quality, material, and structuring of the book received taught me a lot as well.

Beautiful artwork, good story
I definitely judged a book by its cover here - the hardback version is absolutely gorgeous, with a dark background and beautiful shiny lettering. The art inside is just as amazing. I immediately looked up the artist after I bought this, and was not disappointed with her portfolio. The story does not quite live up to the art; it's a creepy, interesting tale of a town full of witches, but I feel like there could have been a lot more fleshed out here to round out the town and its inhabitants. Still, I enjoyed reading about Bucky and Cham, and the artist really sucked me into this world. I found myself picking this back up for a reread not long after I finished.

The art is FANTASTIC!
The woman who drew the art runs the channel “Cosmic Spectrum Art” on YouTube. It’s the front cover art that drew me to this book in the first place, and the rest of the book doesn’t disappoint. The narrative is also pretty interesting, hooks you in early.

A let down
So first off, the art is AMAZING! Just beautiful and eerie! I could just look at it forever. Now the story.........man the writers really did drop the ball. 99% of the story was used to build up this mystery and then the last 1% was the big reveal. I feel cheated!!!! And I really wanted to know what the other girls' powers were too! Like it just ended........just like that......so abruptly. The story is worth 1 stars (because the beginning was pretty good). The Art is worth 10 in my book.

How lovely. How spooky.
Beautifully illustrated and written with more than a clever nod to the noir tropes of days of yore. Would recommend for YA or anyone who likes dark and spooky (but not scary) reads. Would love to read and see more of these characters ans world!

Fun and Creative
Grimoie Noir was the first graphic novel I've ever picked up. Yes, really. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and characters. The story about magic and history was right down my alley, complete with ghosts and witches. But there was plenty of complexity, too. A well told, fun and creative book. Highly recommend.

Beautiful artwork let down by the story
Ugh, this was a book that tore me in two. On the one hand, the artwork is truly beautiful, and I would happily award that 5 stars. On the other hand, the story seemed to be a little lacking, which was such a huge disappointment, because the art in this tale makes you want to love it.The tale is set in a small town called Blackwell; a place where all of the girls are witches. Bucky Orson's younger sister, Heidi, has disappeared. As Heidi's mother constantly cries over the loss of her dear child, the town gets more and more flooded. Bucky is determined to find his sister, and pull his family back together.Elements of this tale intrigued me: first of all, why are all the girls witches? There is also the hint of power, and how people try to gain this, sometimes at the cost to others. Also, of course, Heidi's disappearance in itself. However, no matter how gorgeous the artwork is, I felt that the tale itself seemed to stumble. It needed to be pulled together more; there was so much hope for this book, but sadly, it left me wanting. For the artwork, I would recommend this graphic novel. But, I think there are better tales out there.

Wonderful art and story but..
This is a wonderful story beautifully presented. Enjoyable and easy to read. However I feel I have to mention the unresponsive publisher, very poor. As a book excellent, as a whole, let down with publisher, a few stars off.

Beautiful book!
Having crowdfunded ' Recipes for the Dead ' from the same author, I felt that there would be little risk in ordering this book.Beautiful art, intriguing story, plenty of interesting characters. Read it almost in one sitting, and will re-read to trace the story line more closely. Four stars because it is not ' Monstress ' which unfairly raised the bar for graphic novels to another stratosphere.

Beautiful graphic novel.
Love the story. Beautiful artwork by the illustrator. Read it in one sitting.Only downside it seems while being shipped it got slight damage upon the hardcover corners. Reference pictures above. Thankfully none of the interior artwork was damaged.
