Sorry for the delay in responding, the answer to your question is, at the widest point it is with the legs fully extended is 5 feet wide, with the legs in the closed position it measures 49 inches, hope this helps, this is a brilliant piece of kit and i would never go back to standard step ladders, these are so much safer to use, i use mine for everything from all types of gardening and decorating .
