You pull out the dowels and the center pole breaks down in two pieces, the stand is also in two pieces so that it is all flat, rubber bandable together and about 30" long or so. **Q: Could you please tell me what is the diameter of the branches and central pole?** A: Hello. The central pole is 20 - 25 mm and the branches are 8 -10 mm... the central pole is slightly thinner than a broom handle. **Q: Also...can you guarantee the rods will fit the holes. I don’t have a drill and can’t use a drill. I need the dowels to fit exactly.** A: It worked for me. One rod was a bit stubborn, but with some wiggling it did go in in the end. Once put up it looks really nice. **Q: would want to add lights but worried all the wire would look weird. Has anyone added their own lights?** A: I have put wish jar lights on mine. The wires are clear and the lights aren't bulky. Was worried too when I first put them on but after adding all ornaments and baubles it looks great. I decided to assemble it as soon as it arrived to make sure there weren't any issues, as it will be too late to return it by the time Christmas arrives. It was very easy to put together. The only "branch" which was a bit tricky was the one which went through both sections of the "trunk", where the two sections of trunk intersect. It took a bit of patience and jiggling to get this branch in place, as the holes in both sections of the trunk have to be perfectly aligned. However, I suspect this will get easier over the years, as the holes will probably wear and loosen up a bit with each use. I love the fact that this tree will last for years and years without getting bent or tatty like a plastic tree would. I also love the fact that it seems to take up less space than a plastic tree of the same size, because it is less "solid". It also lets in more light from the window than a plastic tree would. It packs away easily and doesn't take up much storage space. The box is small and light enough for me to get it in and out of the loft easily.
