Great, Just Great! Merrill Womens Siren Edge Hiker shoes were better than I had hoped
I have flat feet and bunions. We planned a vacation to several National Parks where we wanted to hike. My feet often hurt from shoes that have too small of a toe box, too much arch support or not enough. I read the reviews for these shoes and ordered the Merrill Women’s Siren Edge Hiker. These shoes gave my feet great support, never slipped on rocks and never hurt. The toe box was wide enough to not hurt my bunions. The shoes were not heavy or bulky. We hiked for many miles and these shoes never caused me pain. I wore them even when not hiking. Even when roots and rocks were on the trail, these shoes supported my feet. They didn’t slip or roll. I am very impressed with the shoes and recommend them for hiking or if you are on your feet for long periods of time. Great support, comfortable and stylish. Great shoes.

Money Well Spent!
I’m not a regular hiker, living in flat-as-a-pancake Illinois, but with a hiking weekend in Sedona on the horizon I needed something better than my slip-on sneakers. After shopping at all the outdoor/sports/shoe stores, I just couldn’t justify spending upwards of $100 on an unattractive pair of hiking shoes I’d likely never wear again. Enter these beauties...I shipped them straight to Sedona and thankfully the size 8s were a perfect fit (I’m usually a 7.5/8). But even better, they were absolutely amazing through the different terrains we hiked; sandy paths through the woods, rocky paths through the red rock and even up the face of Bell Rock! My courage failed eventually, but my Sirens didn’t slip once. And the best part is that they are a great, comfortable, good looking athletic shoe that I’ll be happy to wear any day at home. Money well spent!

Great product (and the chemical smell does go away)
Right out of the box, these shoes had a very strong, chemical odor. I have owned quite a few Merrells, but none of them smelled so strong. This could not be attributed to the waterproofing treatment, because these shoe are definitely not waterproof. Even a droplet of water will soak right through. I am fine with that, as I didn't expect them to be waterproof or water resistant. After about 20 minutes of wearing them, I experienced a slight allergic reaction, and decided to let them vent out before wearing them again. I let the shoes sit in a well ventilated location for about 3 weeks. As time went by, the smell dissipated enough for me to be able to wear them. At this point, the smell is completely gone. As for the size, this pair is a perfect fit. The shoes are quite comfortable, although not as comfortable as some of my other Merrells. They hug the foot very well and offer a reasonable support. The colors are exactly as shown in the image. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase.

Lightweight yet sturdy
I ordered these for my recent trip to Peru and waited until I returned to review them. I give these 4.5 stars. Other than using them for day trips to visit ruins, I primarily purchased these for our 5-day trek to Machu Picchu. We covered different types of terrain and weather, and I wanted something that was lighter, easier, and more streamlined to travel with than a regular hiking boot. Right out of the box, these are comfortable and do not need much breaking in considering the upper fits more like a running shoe than a hiking boot. The vibram sole is great -- sturdy, great traction, definitely helpful with rocky and wet terrain. Because of the style, these are pretty easy to go from street to trail. I'm normally a 6.5 and these just fit, so I ordered up and the 7 was a great choice, which left a little more room for my toes to wiggle, and I could comfortably fit thick hiking socks. I definitely would've had fit issues if I stuck with the 6.5. Overall, this shoe served me very well while being affordable and lightweight. The only thing I would've liked is a more waterproof upper. The upper is more water resistant than waterproof. I had no problems walking through shallow puddles/streams and light rain, but don't expect dry shoes if you accidentally submerge your foot in water, and I would expect these might soak through if it were pouring.

Well Made & Comfy Too!
Merrell products do not lack in quality or comfort. I've had a different pair for years whuch have been the best all-around walking, hiking, every-day shoe. Now that I need to replace my current pair, I've tried 2 different Merrell models which both ran about a 1/2 size too big - Tokota 2 Hiker & Moab 2 Vented Hiker. Even my hard plastic orthidics did not compensate for it. The Women's Siren Edge Hiker arrived today, and feel perfect (even with my ortodics inserted underneath the removable sole inserts) as I walk around the house to test them out. The toe box is comfy because of the soft, flexable material; heel fits good; and ankle cut-outs are perfect for me - no rubbing. These shoes will be doing double duty as sneakers & hikers. The color is true to what's puctured on Amazon. It's listed as bright red, but the main fabric is more of an orangey-pinky-red in my opinion. I do like the bright colors. Hope the pictures help. I would highly recommend this shoe. No, I was not paid to do a review - I'm an ordinary customer.

Firm, flexible, breathable
First, I'm using these in a suburban environment. I cannot comment on using them for true hiking, but my kids and I do a lot of urban exploring which involves both paved and natural ground, dry and wet with algae surfaces. The fit of these is nice, with a wide rounded toe box. They aren't super padded and cushy (which I like), but they have a firm supportive sole that provides some give on hard surfaces. If you like a really cushy shoe, you probably won't care for these. I would describe the experience of walking on pavement as similar to walking on a lawn barefoot. The thing that is my favorite, though, is the tread pattern. They have great grip, are nonmarking, and don't squeak. But the treads are broken up in a way that allows my foot to flex and bend naturally without the shoe getting in the way. A bonus I didn't really expect is that they breathe nicely and even in 100* temps, my feet aren't uncomfortably sweaty or hot. TLDR; These shoes meet all of my needs for urban exploring adventures, while keeping my feet and ankles happy. Edit: I'm going through my reviews and I honestly still love these sneakers. Repeat everything I said before but after regular use for years.

My new favorite shoe!
I have not been this pleased with a shoe in years and since the era of shopping online has begun, making the best choice has been, indeed, hit and miss... and for me, more miss than hit. But with this hiker I hit the jackpot! The fit, the look and the color choice is absolutely perfect. I hike in the desert on huge slabs of rock (SE Utah) and the comfort, the superb traction as well as the solid strength of the shoe suits the activity to a tee. This will sound silly, but how shoes look as I am wearing them (the vantage point down on the toe) has always been a selling point and every time I have put them on (daily since receiving them) the look of them on my feet pleases me. Thanks, Merrill, for making my new favorite shoe.

Comfortable, but...
Original review: I have had many pairs of Merrell Siren Sport shoes, which are built on the same sole but have thicker material for the uppers because they are a little bit more of a hiking shoe. I really have have only chosen to wear them for years because they are the brand and style of shoe that fits my feet perfectly. The price on the Siren Edge was great, so since the sole was the same, I gave them a shot. WOW...the uppers on these are fantastic. So comfortable and pliable. Really bends with my foot. I love these. UPDATE: I have updated my rating to 3 stars instead of 5. I have been wearing these for about 1 week, almost daily. Within the first week it became apparent that the top back of the shoe was going to cave in pretty quickly. And I have always loosened the laces to put them on. But now, three weeks in, the slumping back is something I feel always, even though I take the time to straighten it out. In addition, one of the shoes puts pressure RIGHT on the end of my big toe nail. After a couple of hours, that is enough to begin to be more than just irritating. I wish I had just gone ahead and purchased the hiking version with the sturdier exterior.

Han sido comodísmas desde el primer día y después de tres usos escasos han soportado varios días de senderismo duro y no he tenido ningún problemas de rozaduras, mis pies protegidos. Son muy bonitas y no es un modelo que se vea a menudo, recomiendo
