Ya! Real coins seems to work even better than the fake plastic coins. Because the fake plastic coins will get stuck on the coin sensor inside and then you will need to put more fake plastic coins in until it doesn't stick or stick something else skinny enough to push the plastic coin all the way down. Real coins are heavier and don't get stuck.

Yes candy will slip out. I threw mine away. Chain too long and you can't fill it up with candy. Only a 1/4 of the way with candy.

How many quarters/tokens does it take per turn?

Should be just one but sometimes we have to put in another when the first doesn't work. It comes with a bag of plastic tokens and they easily come out so you can use them over and over.
