AMD ADX640WFGMBOX Athlon II X4 640 - 3.0 Ghz AM3 CPU, Retail Packaged

It was a bit of a challenge finding a decent quad core for an AM3 socket, but boy, does it do the job. I use my system for entry level gaming and running music editing +recording software. Coming from a single core, 2.7Ghz processor, this has been a fantastic upgrade. My system speed must have increased at least 3 times due to the processor alone. And at £50, it's a bargain. Installation was easy as anything and the fan is pretty damn quiet. Can't find a single fault, especially for this price.

I was glad that after a bit of research on my mothers motherboard, that it was able to support AM3 chips even though it is a AM2 socket, providing it did not go above 95 watts on the CPU power, quick and simple to swap CPU's chips, booted first time, all 4 cores were active and did not even have to flash the bios, definitely recommend this CPU as a upgrade from a dual core 2.7 GHz to friends and family and great Christmas present.

I have not bought this product yet but it is the processor I am most considering to boost gaming performance. Is this compatible with the Asus F1A55-M LE motherboard? Would be appreciated if my question could be answered. I am currently running a 2.1ghz processor so this upgrade would help tremendously.

This AMD640 CPU is a great quad core processor at a great price. The processor is quite fast and can handle many tasks when using your PC, great for medium gaming and also general computer use. The processor is also good at rendering so if you render it isn't as bad as you would think. I recommend getting this CPU, the only bad thing is the overclockability i managed to get it to 3.25 ghz on Stock cooling but overall the product is good.

I had two computers with approximately the same power, one Intel based, one AMD. Having decided to update at least one I found that only updating the AMD based one was viable. I've never replaced a CPU before but this was easy and the instructions provided totally adequate. Five minutes with the PC back off and I've increased the processing of my computer by getting on for 100%.

Got this for my sons computer which was an upgrade from a duel core chip. This chip runs great for everyday tasks although he uses his machine for gaming hasn't noticed a big difference in performance but overall this runs cool and not hot like some of the other AMD chips. It also has a 3 year manufacturers warranty. If you do gaming then this is probably not for you but for surfing the net and multitasking it runs great. Packaged well and Amazon service again great.

I was a bit hesitant to buy a second hand CPU, but I am more than happy with my purchase. It works as expected and is in very good condition. the seller contacted me and made sure I knew it was not in a retail box. It was in its own plastic protection case which was fine.

Uno dei migliori processori che abbia mai montato, l'istallazione del sistema operativo avviene in circa 7 minuti con hard disk, in SSD un poco più di 3 minuti. Svolge egregiamente qualsiasi compito, anche il gaming! lo ho testato con giochi FPS di alto livello e dava eccellenti risultati in 1080p! Lo consiglio vivamente a tutti coloro che cercano un sistema con un processore potente! Consiglio però di cambiare il dissipatore, perchè quello che esce in stock non è molto performante nel raffreddamento quotidiano.

Buen precio para un procesador de rendimiento excelente. He actualizado mi viejo Athlon X2 250 aprovechando la arquitectura compatible am2 - am3 sin necesidad de cambiar placa base ni ningún otro componente.

if you are trying to move from the Pentium D 820 dual core to this then dont wait anymore. Right out of the box this cpu runs great perfect for gaming or multitasking a lot of programs. I got it with the GA-m68m-sp2 and it worked perfectly.Also i couple this with a gt 430 nvidia graphics computer for gaming and 4 GB of ram. I can be running 1080p youtube, installing a program, running microsoft word and some pdf files and this wont slow down a bit. its really good for the price. As for gaming (please note that i dont have the best graphics card) i was able to play MW2, crysis,crysis 2, batman arkham asylum, mass effect 2, world at war or call, black ops, and many more at high to medium settings. no lag what so ever despite my not fast graphics card. I build a computer for my friend same cpu but different graphics card ATI 5670 and he was able to have good gaming computer. The stock cooler provided with the cpu works well it keeps the cores cool and its also quiet, but you can change it if you want. you can overclock this a bit more but do not push it. Instead buy black edition amd cpus. my main purpose was to use this cpu for engineering programs. I used this cpu for moderate to heavy duty CFD (Computational fluid dynamics) Gambit, fluent.As well as solidworkds and Nx modeling. Also i use mathematica and matlab. they all ran fine. I recommended if you are using engineering programs what a difference it makes. Overall the cpu has a lot computing power for the money, if you are going to use it for gaming or engineering or even a home entertainment computer then this cpu will do best, this is not the top of the line cpu but definitely this is an amazing cpu and does the job more than i expected.

Wanted to bring an old desktop back from the dead and this made it easily possible and exceeded my expectations. Extremely satisfied.
