I mounted the plate backwards and face cut the boss. After mounting the backing plate properly, the boss would seat squarely against the shoulder of the headstock spindle. Then I cut the face of the mounting plate so that I ended up with a raised center section that was a precise fit in the factory machined pocket on the backside of the chuck. I finally did locate, drill and tap the four required mounting holes in the mounting plate. **Q: Do you have this with a L1 adapter plate?** A: We have L1 adapter but finished for self-centering chuck. You can still modify it to fit the independent chuck. **Q: Is the back plate already threaded to accept the chuck?** A: Adapter threaded to install to the lathe.
