This brewer comes with a hefty price tag but it does not disappoint in terms of cup quality. I love that you can adjust the brew strength. I like my coffee on the bold side so this works well for that. The carafe is very high quality and keeps coffee hot for a long time with no annoying burning from a hot plate. I love that there is no hot plate. It is very easy to use and offers an "idiot proof" cup of coffee of superior taste (and I use 8'oclock coffee). The only downside I have found is that you cannot fill the water reservoir for smaller brews, you can ONLY fill for the amount of cups per brew. Not a deal breaker but something to keep in mind. It is very easy to remove it and fill it however. Another BIG plus is the coffee basket pulls out instead of having to load from the top. HUGE plus on the design. Is it worth the money? I think it is if you want a perfect cup of coffee without having to figure out the ratio and you are someone who is short on time. Is there a "permanent" filter and where to find?** A: It does not have a permanent filter for the coffee. Water filtration only. I ordered a #4 permanent filter. If it works I will post. **Q: I don't always want to brew a full pot. Is this machine ok to make 2 cups only? Does quality suffer?** A: According to the instructions, yes but I have never made only two cups. I will say this. I didn’t think I would like the thermal carafe as opposed to the glass one that sits on a heated pad for two hours, but much to my surprise, I do . I can come home after my ten hour day, pour a cup of the morning’s coffee and it is Luke warm and doesn’t taste like mud. If I put it in the microwave for twenty seconds it’s perfect.
