Suunto 9 is a multisport GPS watch designed for athletes who demand the best from their sports watch. Intelligent battery life management system with smart reminders ensures your watch will last just as long as you need it to. The robust Suunto 9 is made for long, arduous training and racing and extreme adventures. Review: 6 years, going strong - I got this watch in 2019 and I still use it multiple times a week for running. The battery never runs out, the GPS is accurate. One of the best things I've bought. Review: Great watch. - After owning the Suunto Ambit 2 for around 5 and a half years I thought it was time for an upgrade. The Ambit 2 still works perfectly fine incidentally and has served me well, having zero issues. It also still holds a decent charge too. The Suunto 9 is an awesome watch. Easy to set up, syncs run on my Android phone via bluetooth fine and connects to my computer and syncs to Movescount perfectly. GPS is accurate as long as it's taking readings every second, which is what I use for running. I tested a couple of walks with GPS readings every 10 seconds and that perfectly fine too but if you're running it would have been off, especially as I run quite quick. I can only think that people who say the GPS is very inaccurate have got it set on taking readings every 10 secs or 60 seconds, which gives great battery life but doesn't give as accurate GPS data. You configure all the settings via Movescount.com, which is what I did as soon as I got it, creating my own custom running workout. I wore the watch casually and was using it for running and still got about 2 weeks of use from it which is brilliant. Still had about 18% left so probably could have squeezed a bit more too. Bought a few straps from desertcart too and they're a doddle to change thanks to the quick release mechanism. One criticism if I were to be really picky would be the wrist HR monitor. It's not massively accurate and take it with a pinch of salt but I do use it and I'm glad it's there as it gives you a rough guide and I'm not a fan of the chest HR monitors. All in all an amazing watch. I will always use Suunto as I never have any issues with them and the battery life of their watches is years ahead of other brands. Highly recommended.

Nice piece,
Just received my 1st Suunto9 and I must admit its pleasing look and feel is impressive. Easy to set up and sync with all app on both mobile and laptop. Manuals and menus are intuitive and doesn't take long to put ones head around. Overall looks like a very nice piece but need to put it through its paces hence only 4stars, at this stage. Amazon, speedy delivery and 0%finance option works a wonder.

I love this watch
I've had the watch for a month now. I bought it as an upgrade from the Ambit 2S. -GPS has mostly been great. Had the odd time if started off saying my altitude was 100m or so higher than it was, but that quickly settles out after a minute or two. -Battery life is insanely good. Love the option to optimise battery life too. -HR seems to over estimate but only by about 4-5 bpm which I can live with. It works better if I really strap the watch down tight which is OK for when I'm working out. -Following routes is good for cycling in the mountains in Taiwan. Not great for in the city but that's to be expected. -I like being able to create routes using the APP, but the route creator doesn't work as well as the one in strava. Overall it's a fantastic buy.

Suunto have gone downhill
I upgraded to the Suunto 9 from the Ambit 3 Sport as the latter was not really compatible with the Suunto app after the stopping of Movescount. The positives are that it looks good, easy to navigate the menus, the notifications you get from your watch via Bluetooth are great and the battery life is fantastic. When out exercising, you have 3 different GPS accuracy options available. On full charge, the most accurate GPS setting will give you nearly 30 hours of battery life... Perfect for a long ultra. The main negative is the accuracy of the watch's GPS and elevation recorder. My watch is always half a mile to a mile less than my friends who I run with and I find the elevation gained is always about half of what it should be. When I review the run on the Suunto app and Strava, that's where you really see how inaccurate it is. The travel line is all over the place. I've tried all the different GPS options available but to no avail and because it is so inaccurate, I've started taking my Ambit 3 out for runs instead. My Suunto 9 may well be a faulty one and I have messaged Suunto to find out if they could investigate.

Suunto , big and beautiful!
Love this watch ! Been with garmin for a few Years , recently switched to COROS but watch was a little dainty for me. I like a chunky watch, had a Spartan years ago so liked the look of the 9. Touch screen is way more responsive than the Spartan , nice additional features .including sleep tracking. Brilliant battery life and all together a nice package. Plus for some reason it was really well priced here around £70 less expensive than other vendors. Definitely recommend.

Rubbish apps
The basic functions such as distance, time, etc work fine, and the watch is generally robust. However the apps that go with the Suunto 9 are very very poor and I’d suggest you go for an alternative such as a Garmin. I’m relatively tech savvy but trying to download a route from Movescount (can’t be done from the Suunto app) is ridiculously difficult. Very disappointing.

Long battery life and good multi sport recording
Great watch. Handy for long distances. I am not sure how accurate the heart rate monitor is, but is ok for reference. The back light function is a bit annoying, as you have to press a separate button, which when running can be a bit awkward. It's not the end of the world and is ok once you get used to it. Lots of multi sports modes is a plus. Initially I got sent a book instead of the watch, but Amazon quickly rectified this.

I like the product quality and the Suunto design. For med the watch has almost everything that I need. Good battery management and many sport modes that can be customized is perfect for me.
