I haven't made it through this book but I am finding some very good ideas. It is a book that will be used often.

Not ideal for planning
The portion regarding planning is lackluster. I was hoping to find more information around layout, plant combinations, succession planting but this is more so about what plants grow in the Midwest.

Great Midwest Gardening Resource
I bought this book to complete my Midwest Garden book collection. I thought it is a superb resource for myself being a beginner to intermediate gardener. I really enjoyed the section on composting, as I want to begin doing that this year. The detailed zone maps are my favorite resource, the pictures are lovely, and I love the organization of the content. It is easy to look up a plant description. But most importantly, this book is full of tips and tricks to grow a lovely garden.
