These days, it can be difficult for some people to get into the U.S. But then again, it can be even more difficult for some people to leave. When one highly trained, elite intelligence specialist is designated the unenviable task of making one person disappear, he quickly perceives that he will have to draw upon all of his resources in order to make this happen-if it's even possible in the first place. With a command unit at his disposal, he'll have to move quickly.

Don't waste your money!
My wife and I suffered through about half of this loser till we just gave up. We are both Wahlberg fans so we tried to get past the horrendous sound quality, the pathetic acting, the hackneyed attempt at a plot and the predictably heavy handed political correctness. In the real world where we live no woman has ever even come close to becoming what the military would call a "special operator." Yet here is the most secret, effective spec ops unit in the world where pigs fly and a few 100 pound chickies wear their new found Y chromosomes on their sleeve and have to take frequent time outs to assuage their maternal instincts. In any action movie the viewer is asked to "suspend reality" as a trade off for good entertainment. Okay, I did my part, where's the entertainment??

A Peter Berg Fail
Hard to believe the guy who directed this, also directed Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon, and Patriots Day. Non-linear plot. Subpar gun battles. Over-choreographed fight scenes. Dialogue that was comprised of rapid-fire smack talk that sounded more like bickering, and characters egotisically rambling to their own team about how elite they are as if there’s an invisible audience in the room that needs to be brought up to speed on the subject. In short, a film that tries to be bad-ass through both dialogue and action, but perpetually fails at both.

Disappointing and not believable.
The plot is interesting but this needed better editing. It's too tangled. The dialogue would have benefited from some fine tuning as well.Mark Wahlberg was the biggest disappointment, his acting is over the top and childish. Its hard to believe a leader of an elite special ops team would be so juvenile. And the rubber band? Wahlberg constantly plays with and snaps a rubber band on his wrist while he screams, swears, and berates everyone he comes in contact with. Wow, what a leader! Great team building there.Lauren Cohan isn't much better. I've enjoyed them in other roles, so perhaps it was the director at fault? Rousey? Not an actress. Iko Uwais was the only one worth watching, but suspend disbelief because no one could take those hits without a mark or loss of agility.Overall might be worth a rental, just be glad you didn't waste $15 going to the theatre to see it. Hopefully our real special activities division has more mature and competent officers.

The Mission Comes First!!!
Saw this film opening weekend, this is director Peter Berg's best film since The Kingdom. I found this movie to be very tense when the mission starts rolling with a CIA undercover combat team. Many ground zero in your face moments, a low key operation quickly goes sideways.Supporting cast is outstanding, Ronda Rousey (Expendables) and Lauren Cohan (Walking Dead) are believable as female gunfighters. Iko Uwais as a local defector who plays Li Noor, reminds me of Jet Li. He is "the package" who has vital information for the CIA. He looks like a future star, great presence in every scene. Don't believe the reviews out there from "movie experts" on the internet. I have watched movies for 45 years, this is a good film for its genre. The action scenes remind me of Black Hawk Down, 13 Hours (Secret Soldiers of Benghazi). Intense urban warfare, that I found realistic. Take Expendables and give it a shot of adrenalin, with a much better plot.I am a war veteran who trained with the Navy, Marines, Army, in combat medicine. Never in Special Forces, I have met these men in my 14 years of service who are the real deal. The action knocked me out breathless, I thought I was going to have a heart problem, tachycardia, palpitations, the works. Very realistic to me, I trouble shoot any film involving the military.Mark Wahlberg reminded me of Tom Berenger the platoon Sgt. of the Oliver Stone classic. He is a pit bull who does not accept defeat, does not accept excuses from his team members. Are you good to go, or are you out! Short tempered, brief with answers, yelling to make his point under crisis. He is a leader who will keep you alive in the arena of exploding shrapnel. Mark is full throttle, get out of my way, an alpha male leading the charge. Will he get his team out of trouble and complete the mission?

A Guilty Pleasure For Sure
There's a lot about Mile 22 to hate. The dialogue sometimes seems like it's more from a Scary Movie version of an action film than a smart, tight thriller, but I have to say — I love this movie. I really appreciated Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg's work on Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon and Patriots Day and this kind of felt like the two men keep the same messaging and sensibilities, but letting their hair down. I guess I let my hair down too because I loved all that was good and all that was bad about this movie. If you're a sucker for action movies, this packs all of the cliches, but they all seem to be done with love and there is some genuinely interesting stuff here. The movie's head and heart are in the right place and I'd love to see sequels. Bring 'em on.
