Review: Digimon Adventure tri.: The Complete 6-Film - Love the movies Review: They're all Grown Up - Something I commend the writers of Digimon for is that they address the emotional turmoil common to coming of age, unlike the creative limbo that Pokémon has been ensnared like a caterpie in since 1996. The main characters are in high school, finally, and they undergo the stressors of the most formative years of any life; first crushes, unreciprocated love, jealousy and falling outs, what life will look like after high school, and how adulthood affects friendships. These are not the same kids that many of us met at summer camp, and this is meant as a compliment. Even though these movies are mostly targeted at children, there are plenty of quiet moments between the fighting that remind the viewers that growing up is not only necessary but expected in some capacity. I would not be surprised if the viewers that grew up with Digimon on Fox Kids do not see themselves in the characters evolving.
