This book isn't for you, it isn't about looking tall, thin, and boyish built. This book is more for the woman who want an illusion of a balanced body particular the hourglass. This is a good open-minded book which the author who wrote in a positive tone. I'm not going to lie; I prejudged this book as a typical fashion media who degrades any body type that don't fit in the typical fashion model body type.PROS*All the visuals are beautiful and all of the pages are colored. Great examples of each body type.*Mr. Bayou and his team have very great taste in fashion. None of the outfits are over the top, but realistic and attainable. Most of the outfits are color coordinated (not match matchy), monochromatic, or complimentary.*All the basic shape of each fashion styles he recommended for each body type, are realistic to find in mass production. Lucky's books their images they portrayed of the fashion pieces they recommend are not realistic to find (which are high end designer pieces)*This literature doesn't degrade any body type*Great explanation and examples of most of the basic clothing shapes which he recommend and don't recommend for each body type* Perfect for women who are plus sizeCONS*I hope Mr. Bayou knows all curvy women aren't built the same. Besides Triangle and Hourglass body shapes, there are three other common curvy body shapes. Straight figures that have a square hips, round or prominent buttocks who only gains weight in their buttocks, thighs, and calves (think of Serena Williams or singer Ciara). A straight figure who have a square hips, flat or round buttocks that gains weight in the lower stomach, thighs, and calves (think Christina Milanþ), and pear shape or hourglass figure who have curvy hips, flat or round buttocks who gain weight in the lower stomach, thighs, and calves (think of Jordin Sparks, Demi Lovato, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, or Halle Berry). I'm built like this myself. My source on body types, 25 Body Types book by Carolyn Mein.*He didn't consider body types with long or super long torso/waist. I'm very long waisted.*He didn't list all the illustrations of basic shapes and details to look for and avoid*On page 237, on the career illustration it was an error on the illustrationI'm a fashion enthusiast and I will like to give out some tipsIf you a woman who want to look slender in the lower body and more of illusion of thin long legs, try Hello Skinny jeans.If you a woman who want an illusion of smaller buttocks try Joe's Jeans the Honey Booty Fit.If you an African American woman who follow more of the Urban/Hip Hop Video model standard follow Mr. Bayou's advice under the Inverted Triangle or Rectangle body types. He gives suggestion on these body types to look more of a hourglass shape.I didn't read whole the book, but I think this is a good overall. As with most fashion books/articles/videos I've sought out, the information isn't ground breaking. In fashion there truly isn't anything new under the sun. Different "experts" within this field often have different advice and "rules" on how to execute looking/feeling your best.What I like is that this book offers illustrations that help the reader see visual examples of the advice given. For someone who is clueless (on rules/terms/body shapes) this is VERY helpful. And even if you know a little something, to see a picture is truly worth a thousand words.My overall advice is to take the basics of this book combined with everything else you've learned and make it your own! I do feel it is SUPER important to learn your body shape though! In my opinion this is something that should NOT be skipped!However, some things may not apply to you (even once you've learned your shape)... Example I am an apple at my current weight but in many ways I mimic an hourglass (except for my larger bust and tendency to gain weight around the middle). So with the right undergarments, and neckline I can wear some "vava voom" dresses created for an hourglass. Ohh! And because my legs and thighs aren't that much smaller than my top half, I look $#@! good in skinny jeans! LOL! Though he feels skinny jeans are a no no for apples.I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to better dress for her body shape. He also has some other practical advice on shopping and choosing better pieces. It gave the know how to 'visually' look for symmetry in my body and clothing and to actually SEE what shopping mistakes I was making. I've been dressing better ever since! ### ⭐⭐⭐ Some good information but it takes a long time to get there. *by N***Z on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 27, 2016* I was very excited to get this book because I have always found it hard to buy clothes that fit well and look nice on me. I usually end up going with baggy clothes that hide all my flaws. I like my body and want to show it off to the best advantage, and this book promises to tell you how to do it. The first part of the book has photos of a lot of celebrities that he has dressed, and one thing I noticed is that most of their outfits are corseted. I definitely do not want to wear a torture device like a corset when I'm going anywhere! But I continued reading because the book promises to tell you what will look best for you based on your body shape. When I finally got to where I could find out where I fall (page 62), I discovered I am an "Average Full Rectangle". I then moved on to the four (yes, only four) pages that showed me how to dress for my body type. While four pages doesn't seem like much, he packed a lot of information into them. However, I wish there had been photographs of real women with my body type wearing the types of clothes he suggested. There are only drawings. Also, I know for a fact that even though it says I should wear empire style dresses, I have yet to find any that are flattering for women like me who have large chests. It's not a bad book, but it seems like I didn't need a whole book to get this information.
