The material is nice and light and breathable
Just received mine a day or so ago, so these are very early impressions, but I am loving this hammock so far. The material is nice and light and breathable, though the trade-off being it is only rated to 250 pounds. I can feel a slight breeze through it, so it is nice and cool on these unseasonably warm days we are already getting here. It is definitely a single-occupancy set up (meaning it almost feels cramped, think the go-to word is "cozy") but I'm 6'8" tall, so a normal individual should feel fine. That being said, even with my large frame it is still very comfortable. I did not buy this for camping (though I love the idea and will have to find time to get away with it) but have selected an ideal spot at home. Did not get the hanging kit (sold separately, no idea what's in it) but 3 minutes of rope cutting and knotting, and I now have a nice set up between trees that is easy to put up and take down. Just a loop around each one, no drilling or damage required. In all, yes it is a light weight feeling rig (think it is around 12 ounces-ish) so no idea on life expectancy for it, but it is very comfortable for me, and has a great price on it for what I have received. Top marks from me! Plus it has a compact little duffle that it packs away into, surprisingly compact really. The fact it went back in with no effort was actually surprising. A rolled up tee shirt takes up almost as much space.

Works well and reasonable price
Roomy for single person but not a double person hammock. If you lie crosswise your feet will probably hang off, but if you lie diagonally you can lie almost flat and have a bit extra to wrap around you to keep off the breeze. Comes with S-hooks and two 5-foot long (when doubled over) support ropes. The ropes are doubled over with knots tied at intervals so you can attach one end to a hook in a wall or tree (better not to put hooks in trees though) and attach the S-hook to a suitable knot for the height you want. The ropes aren't long enough to wrap around trees unless they are small and really close together, but there was plenty for our set-up where we had two posts with hooks in them. We tied an extra knot in the rope to fine-tune. You can get similar rope pretty cheaply, special hammock straps, or I've read suggestions elsewhere about adapting non-nylon (nylon stretches) vehicle tie-down straps. Others have suggested replacing the s-hooks with carabiners which sounds nice but 2 of the carabiners I priced would cost more than the hammock! A carabiner might be slightly more secure but I doubt the hammock will jump off a s-hook if there's weight on it. The fabric is thin but strong and cool. For coolish weather lie on a thin blanket. Once we had things adjusted for our location it takes about 30 seconds to put up the hammock. I read reviews about this hammock and several others before deciding on this one. Others may have a bit more structure, but for the price this one seems to do pretty much what a hammock needs to do without making it a major family financial investment decision.

Every ounce counts!
I own two of these. I'm not a true "ultra-light" hiker, but at the end of each day, every ounce (or lack there of) really counts! The set-up is faster than the average tent. Personally I think the comfort is far superior to sleeping on the ground (even with a pad). I use this hammock in conjunction with my Equinox Nylon Poncho w/ Extension as my tarp. Both are light weight for hiking and also compact to fit in your pack or kayak hatch. I've used the same hammocks for the last few years and just now having to replace them, not because the last ones have failed in any way, but mainly for my peace of mind. Mine get fairly hard use. Being 200+ pounds, I'm pushing the weight limit on these, especially when it rains and I throw my pack in at my feet to keep the gear dry. At the beginning of each season I treat the fabric and ropes with Permethrin to help keep the bugs away instead of opting for a heavier hammock with a net, it really seems to do the trick. If the bugs are really bad, I'll spray a little DEET on myself too. These hammocks are great for the back yard also if you follow one simple rule. Don't leave your hammocks out in the sun/weather for days or weeks on end. If that is what you want to do, then buy a rope/net type hammock designed for that. Keep sharp objects out of the hammock also. All it takes is a decent sized puncture to cause a large rip. I see other guys spend up to $300 on their hammock set-ups. Expensive brands just never impressed me. This one fits my budget just fine!

Hammock Camping is REAL camping! Why haul around a big tent? Why go through the hassle of setting up tents with poles, on uneven uncomfortable ground? I've been using this Hammock for years now. Sleep diagonally, set up ropes about head height, so you can easly sit down on it like a chair/couch. In cool weather or wind, add a blanket beneath you for that bottom draft. Light weight. Comfortable. And you can set up anywhere, even in wet marshy areas, because you're off the ground! No more searching for the perfect flat grass patch, or hauling around padding for your tent floor.
