Now to be fair some types of stainless can be magnetic and you can induce magnetic properties into stainless by cold forming but it will be a weak attraction which you do get with the hinge leaves but everything else including the screws is strongly attracted to the magnet which leads me to suspect these components are plain steel as other reviews have pointed out. Fortunately, I'm using these indoors so I shouldn't have a problem with rust and they do swing nicely. ### ⭐⭐ The pin is not stainless steel. *by S***E on Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2019* Do not use this hinge outside. The hinge pin is not stainless steel. The rust shown in the photos is after 2months outside. The description is incorrect and misleading. The entire hinge is not 304 stainless steel. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not robust per se' but for the price OK *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2020* As others have pointed out, this is not real stainless, but that was OK for me as I knew I was going to use indoors. They aren't the most robust, but I knew that although I was going with a heavier door replacement, these hinges would be more than adequate, and they were. Flimsy enough that they conformed to a less than perfect surface.I only wish the screws were a little longer, and perhaps stouter (pursuant for use with heavier doors).
