Draper33502 Hardwood File Handle, 100mm

Just the job for small trowels
I have some lovely old garden trowels made of quality steel that needed new handles. These handles are slightly smaller than the originals but still fine. They are intended for metal files so a minor amount of adapting is needed, i.e. drilling out the hole to about 10mm. Additional I put a dollop of Araldite into the hole to make sure it doesn't start wobbling in due course. Looks good to last for years to come.

Hardwood tool handle.
This was just what I had expected. However the overall length was a bit shorter than I would nhave liked.Otherwise very good, in quality and use.

Did the job!
Replaced the handle on an old trowel. Good length, easy to fit and now works great.Happy weeding!

Brilliant
Great, just drill out with different bits to match the taper and when your about 5 mm of the hilt just hit the handle end with a wood mallet and the file will jump up right into the hilt. This way no risk to the file tang. Shove a coat of BLO on to seal it, job done. You might want to smooth with fine sandpaper to get it really nice

Great for some needle files, but not all.
This is supposed to be a loose fit - you should use needle files away from you only, so they wont fall out in use. However I found it didn't fit all files. It was close, and fitted maybe two thirds each of two different manufacturers sets with the thin, rubberised handles. Fits the uncoated ones fine, and they were the main ones, so only uses one star, as they really do make the files so much easier to hold. When I get a moment I will drill down inside a little just to widen it that crucial extra parts of a mm. However for the price, this still is very good value, and certainly worth getting.

Broke immediately
It broke immediately when I tried to get it on my Iwasaki file. I got it all soaked in super glue, but I don't have big hopes for lasting longer than it looks. Maybe it's fit for something really small, but not for normal size tools.

If you want to make tools but don't have a lathe these are the business.
Simple, clean turned handles, these were just what I needed. They look and feel like boxwood, one of the better materials for wooden handles, and so far I have made three tools to go with them. The neat matching handles are better than I would have managed carving them by hand, so they were certainly worth the money.Recommended.

Good quality
Same quality I remember as a young apprentice in the 60’s
