Intersectional feminism at its best. It made me aware of my own shortcomings when teaching feminist theory. Understanding feminism as a political commitment rather than an identity treat is utterly important, and this book makes clear why. Reading on her current blog I can see that she maintains most of the statements that she first made in this book, which I have found really helpful in my classroom, research, and approach to a possible change. bell hooks essays changed my life 4 years ago and I will be forever grateful. As she often says: "Patriarchy knows no gender," and these essays are a must for every human being.

A timelessness book on feminism
The feminist movement has been the longest global political movement that has yet to be fully implemented among societies. Bell Hooks, from margin to center, is a call to action wherever you have the possibility to build a better world.

I just received this book and I am very excited to read it!!

Good read for someone new to feminism
I'm still reading this book and purposely taking my time with it. I enjoyed another book by this author and thought I'd read some more from her. Although I'm a black woman, I never gave much thought into feminism until recent years. I believe that change is due to age and today's political climate. So far I'm loving the book. This is a great read for everyone, but I believe it is particularly true for black women and black men who don't understand feminism, view it in a negative light, or consider it a white woman's movement.

Beautiful. So intelligent, and saddening. Really important to have these books under your belt to truly understand the race class and gender struggle still ongoing.

A bit against white women?
The book enlighten me in black women way to see feminism but she is so judgemental against white women . White women should understand circumstances of black women of course but judging and underestimating won't help
