These exciting, challenging, and deeply touching true stories chronicle the lives of ordinary men and women whose trust in God accomplished extraordinary exploits for His kingdom and glory. Written specifically to challenge readers with the powerful lives of missionaries who have profoundly shaped history, the books in the Christian Heroes: Then & Now series answer today's call for positive role models and for opportunities to see how God works through the lives of those who follow him. The exciting life stories of these heroes will inspire readers as they witness the drama of faith and character being tested under the most extreme circumstances. Readers of all ages love these fast-paced adventures that take them to the heart of a nation, an era, and what it means to live a life dedicated to serving God and those He loves. Parents report that even kids who have never liked to read have eagerly read all of these - sometimes more than once! This 5-book gift set includes: Gladys Aylward: The Adventure of a Lifetime Nate Saint: On a Wing and a Prayer Hudson Taylor: Deep in the Heart of China Amy Carmichael: Rescuer of Precious Gems Corrie ten Boom: Keeper of Angels' Den Review: Love this whole series - These are some of my favorite books. They are so easy to read and contain life changing stories. I have the whole set of Christian Heroes Then and Now and Heroes of History and I canโt recommend them high enough. I have given away multiple sets. Review: Favorite of the 5-set books - This, the first of the Christian Heroes gift sets, is my favorite. I can see why they did these first. I only knew of Hudson Taylor and Corrie Ten Boom by name, and I only vaguely knew the stories. These books filled them in quite well. For adults, of course, you'd probably read The Hiding Place, for Corrie Ten Boom (which I have not yet got to); but I as an adult learned a lot from this book. The other ones in this series I found fascinating. The biography of Nate Saint here in this series is, in my opinion, quite a bit more interesting and detailed than the corresponding biography of Jim Eliot later in the series; it actually explains their death together much better, with a lot more details on the aftermath. Nate Saint is a much more approachable character than Jim Eliot, as well, and my kids definitely enjoyed it more (but they like the Jim Eliot story too). The Gladys Aylward story pretty much blew my mind. I consider it a pretty severe defect in my Christian education that I had not heard this story. Wow. God chooses the most unlikely people. I found myself personally inspired by a number of these stories, even as I read them to the kids.

If you have a child who has a servant's heart, get these books for them!!
We received our books yesterday. My 10 year old son started reading the first book right away and he said he was "hooked". We had an amazing conversation about China. He asked me if he could ever go to a place like China to share the gospel. I explained to him the dangers of sharing his faith outside of the United States but he was steadfast that he didn't care if China was a Communist government, he said "I want to change that, Mom". He is an amazing child and I'm so glad that these books will just add to his heart for the Living God whom we serve! I wish books like this were required reading in the public school system. If all American children could only see how hundreds of thousands before them have shaped our world because of their faith in Jesus Christ. Wow! We love these books!

Engaging biographies for kids and adults!
Well written and engaging for adults and even kids as young as mine( age 8 and 9). Often beginning biographies for the younger ages are so short, unimpressive, and boring.... BUT this Christian Heros series is far from that. They are so engaging...full of history, character, accomplishments and challenges! Read them with your kids!

Fascinating
The description states that these are for children. I had never heard of these stories or the books. I was searching for information on traveling mission work when I came across these books. Once I started reading it was difficult to put them down. Truly inspiring. BTW. Iโm 65

Well-written and interesting bios
I wanted books about missionaries to read aloud to my kids (we homeschool). I came across these and ordered this set to try out. They arrived on time. All are in new condition like I expected. No tears, bent corners, markings. We have only read the first one, but we loved it. My kids are interested and actively listening - begging for more than just 1 chapter a day!

Exciting Books!
My family loves these books. My 13 year old son, said about them, "It is like they tell the stories of the peoples' lives with all of the boring parts left out. " They really are the best biographies for children that I have ever read. Susie

I love these books
I love these books! I'm an adult in my 20's and totally love reading these books. I kept reading them when I visited my nieces and nephews, and finally decided to start growing my own collection. I will say that I don't love the price. They are great books, but I don't think they should be sold so high. Not the sellers fault though--that would be the publisher.
