They are the regular domino size. About 1-3/16" long by 9/16" wide by 3/16"

is this a fun game for only two players

Yes it's fun with 2 players. We like to remove some of the larger tiles. 12's 11's10's or more. We have played with 7's and lower it's still fun and things move along better

Do you think a 5 year old would enjoy this? He is currently playing chess.

If he is already playing chess, then definitely. This requires far less strategy than chess. It is just low key and fun.

How is this different from regular dominoes? I haven't played much, but my husband used to like dominoes. I'm wondering how different it is?

In this game all players form different "trains" plus you form an extra train called the Mexican train on which you can place dominoes. So you have more options for playing your dominoes. There are different sets of rules, but we soon settled on the rules we liked best. To me it is more interesting and more fun!
