There should have been a small packet with the needle in it.

does this come with floss?

Yes. I expanded the height and width by buying some gold metallic floss. I added three rows around the entire image. This helped make the moon pop especially after I framed the needlepoint. I made one for each of my three kids to be used in the baby's room.
