I replace them every 7 or 8 yrs.( I'd probably still have my first set, but I like the look of brand new for some things) Way back then, they had screw on tops that I really miss. I never intended to keep getting the same ones over and over again, but every time I shop, nothing really strikes me, and then I come accross these by accident again. It's like "bingo!" This time, I looked for them on purpose, and am getting 2 sets this time. They just look so right in any kitchen(I've lived in 8 different places since I first got them) They look good in every kitchen; feel perfect in your hand and the salt and pepper falls out PERFECTLY. I love cooking with these. I've gotten well made ones,(my first ones were a bit heavier , but I wouldn,t want them heavier- I actually like that they are a bit lighter) but like everything, sometimes something get missed on the assembly line at the factory-give them a chance and try another set. I DO wish they'd at least make the screw tops again. Other than that, I'll probably always use these.
