Exceeded my expectations. I used the MH version paired with a Penn Pursuit III 4000 and spooled with 12lb Sufix Superior. I caught the cero mackerel in the photo with this setup. Handled it easily.I also used this rod for some bridge fishing using a 1oz egg sinker w/ small pin fish for bait on a knocker rig. The rod handled this heavy bait combo surprising well. Nice flex at the tip and transitions quickly to a stiff/fast action. I did not feel like the rod was overloaded using a couple ounces of weight/bait.The reel seat is large enough for spinning reels with larger mounting bases (I have a Penn Fierce 8000 that fits this rod). The soft travel case is nice but would not provide protection from being crushed, so plan accordingly.The rod sections stayed together well after an afternoon of casting. But as with any multi-piece reel, check the connections periodically while fishing.Overall a great rod and I'm glad I purchased it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Inshore Saltwater Travel Rod for Under $100 *by J***7 on April 3, 2019* I just got back from the US Virgin Islands where I put this rod to use. Before my trip, I spent about six hours total researching the best travel rod to bring with me, without breaking the bank. I realized I'll only use this rod when I fly which is only about once a year and decided I would rather save my cash for other fishing gear I'll use more frequently. That alone prevented me from purchasing the more expensive St. Croix travel rod or Okuma Nomad. After searching all over the Internet, this rod checked all of the boxes for me and I picked it up for $83 in March 2019.- The rod and case fit diagonally inside my suitcase. My buddy had the same rod and carried his on the plane, no questions asked (JetBlue March 2019)- I paired the rod with both a 4000 and 5000 size reel - both reels felt nice and balanced- I could easily chuck .5 oz to 2 oz baits. This was my only concern with this rod before purchasing. However, I was fishing from shore, so I was chucking baits as hard as I could and never worried about the rod exploding!- Unfortunately, the biggest fish I landed was a 2lbs yellowtail snapper, so I didn't get to test the rod's backbone, but it performed as expected.- This is my first Okuma rod and for $83 I'm impressed with the quality and finish of the rod.Hope this helps! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Decent Inshore Travel Rod *by S***E on June 12, 2020* This is a decent inshore saltwater rod. It's a bit stiff and the action can get better, but I disagree with the reviews stating that the ferrules are weak or misplaced. This rod has brought in very good sized jacks, snook, and small tarpon with no issue at all.
